soft music was heard in a manor's bedroom as a red- haired man bit down lightly on another man's neck, whose white top was partially unbuttoned, showcasing multiple hickeys all over his chest; his coat and top hat resting on a coat rack that was in the bedroom. the young man, who had black hair that was neatly done into dreadlocks, was suppose to be at his late night job, but he often found himself inside the redhead's manor; feeling dreadful about what his family would say about him spending time with a man.
sharp fangs darted out of the redhead's mouth, preparing to bite the young man, but he was stopped, noticing the worried look on his face. he pulled away from his neck, wrapping his arms around his torso.
"what's the matter?" he asked, resting his head against the young man's shoulder.
the young man sighed, not even wanting to make eye contact. "i-i haven't told my family about us, besides, i really don't know if i'm gay or asexual."
"have you been in a relationship with someone before you met me?"
"yeah, but my family is constantly badgering me to get married to honor the family. i had a few dates with women, but they never last long."
"you know i like you more than your body, right?" questioned the redhead, cupping the young man's face, letting him look deep into his gold eyes, causing the young man's heart to beat erratically.
"i know that, it's just—i'm sorry" he replied, looking down in shame, laying down on a fluffy pillow; the redhead then pulled out several pieces of jewelry from his pocket.
"would you sit up for me?"
the young man nodded and sat up from the bed; lifting up his dreadlocks, a silver necklace with a crucifix on it was placed around his neck, then a grayish-black chain, and finally, a black chain, feeling the cold hands of the vampire around his neck.
"they're suppose to wart off danger around you" said the redhead, pulling the young man close to his chest, feeling his non-existent heartbeat.
i could stay like this forever with him. the young man thought, feeling safe in his warm embrace.
suddenly, a knock was heard downstairs, prompting the young man to get up from the vampire's embrace, but his tracks were stopped when the redhead tugged on his arm.
"something bad is going to happened when you go down there. please let me go with you." said the redhead.
the young man replied. "okay"
the duo made their way downstairs, however, the young man told the redhead to hide just in case something ugly happened. taking a deep breath, he opened the door, revealing a much older man with a stiff expression on his face, causing panic to run through his body.
"hello, father"
the man's father glared at him. "your manager called and told me that you haven't been at work for the past couple days, plus several people around this area had told me that you've been spending the night at this castle. what's going on?"
"i, uh, found somebody that i really like, but uh..." the young man tried to say, but felt discouraged, looking down on the floor in shame.
"what is it?"
"he's gay, father. he's been spending time with the vampire that lives here."
the father and the young man looked up and saw the oldest brother standing above the staircase, aiming a gun at right at him. "he dishonored the family, so we know what to do now."
the young man looked at his brother, then his father, in complete shock. tears ran down his face as he turned back to face his father.
"please, don't kill me." he pleaded as he began to sob uncontrollably, but he noticed his father pulling out a similar gun to his brother, aiming directly at him.
"i'm sorry, but you dishonored our family."
before the father could even pull the trigger, a wisp of smoke took the young man away from the two angry family members, taking him right back in the vampire's bedroom, revealing the redhead holding him in his arms, looking deep into his dark eyes.
"you saved me." said the young man, feeling relieved.
"of course. that's what i'm supposed to do." replied the redhead, small tears rolling down his face.
"a little too late for this, but i lov—"
a gunshot was heard; the bullet hitting the young man's shoulder, but that didn't faze him. he grabbed the redhead's arm and darted out of the bedroom, despite the sound of gunfire coming from behind them. the young man's brother suddenly appeared in front of them, shooting him in the lower stomach, and finally on the right side of his head, causing him to fall down the stairs, leaving a pool of blood at the end of the staircase.
looking at the partially alive corpse of their brother/son, the father and brother fled the manor, leaving the redhead in mourning; he noticed the nasty bullet hole on the right side of his forehead, which was still oozing fresh blood. the vampire cradled the young man in his arms, more tears spilling from his face.
"i hope we can reunite some day" the young man breathed out, feeling his heartbeat slow down.
"thank you for saving me" choked the redhead, caressing the young man's bloodstained face.
"i love you."
"i love you, too."
a soft kiss was shared between the two men as the young man took his last breath, dying in his arms, leaving the redheaded vampire all alone. although he was dead, the redhead bit him on the neck, tasting the rest of his blood. the sadness on his face was replaced with anger as he looked at the opened door of his manor, his own blood boiling inside him as his eyes glowed yellow.
i'll avenge you.
