Chapter 6: "A Ray of Hope"

On the next day at the office, she was there, and then, out of the blue, she picked up her phone and started liking every photo of Evaan.

The office had been buzzing with rumors about the two of them dating, so they couldn't risk interacting through the official account. Instead, they used their private accounts. (Secretive)

Meanwhile, the guy had to message someone important through his main account.

He opened it and quickly sent the message, but suddenly, he received a notification, "Anya liked all your posts."

Curiosity piqued, he checked her profile, and a connection seemed to spark through the account.

To confirm, he messaged her from his private account, "Anya?" (Nervous)

She replied with a simple "yes."

(If the account holder's name is the same, then she will definitely reply 'yes,' dummy.)

However coincidentally, it was indeed her account. (Fate)

He typed, "Found you," a line from her favorite novel, which made her heart race.

[He intentionally said it because, on a date, she had mentioned her favorite novel.]

She realized it was him, and their matching names confirmed it.

(Why hadn't they just asked for each other's numbers directly? - Well she couldn't ask for his number because he might think she was being interested in him and he thought she might not want to give it to him.)

So, they started chatting privately, and she blushed like a teenage girl.
After all this was her first time dating someone.

Then, during a meeting, his phone buzzed, and it was a message from her. He blushed and let out an unintentional shout. (Embarrassed)
Everyone in the meeting room turned to him, concerned. (Awkward)
He excused himself from the meeting, as he was considered one of the intellectuals.

In front of the restroom mirror, he stared at himself and wondered, "What just happened? What was I doing?"

At the same time, another notification popped up, and he started dancing with joy, childlike excitement in the air.

Back at her desk, she was impatiently waiting for his reply, wondering if he was still in the meeting.

She sighed in relief as she saw him "seen" her message, but she couldn't help blushing and feeling unusually excited.

She grabbed her secretary's hand and exclaimed, "He's seen it, and he replied! Woo-hoo! But why am I this excited?" (Confused)

The next day, the boy was in his office, thinking about the girl. He realized that she reminded him of someone, but he couldn't figure out who. In his mind, he saw her as a ray of hope, extending her hand to help him up in a dark and gloomy cave. And he had a similar image in his mind of someone else, but who was that someone?

To understand this mystery, let's rewind the story a bit. When Evaan was just 5 years old, his biological father who was a wealthy but cruel and strict man. Evaan was treated like a servant, and his mother suffered brutal abuse at the hands of his father's wife (on paper) and his father himself, as she was just a fling.

One day, Evaan's mother managed to take him away, whispering to him, "Run, my son, run far away, and don't come back until you're strong enough." So, he did just that, fleeing from his tormenting life. He ended up on the streets, living like a slave, thinking that his mother's sacrifice had been in vain.
