Chapter 8: "Echoes of Promise"

In the room where she lay lifeless, a giggle echoed eerily. Someone with a beautiful voice began to sing softly, "Tumhe dil diya hai ye wada kiya hai." She continues, "Sanam, main toh tumhari rahungi sada." That someone was Anya, kneeling down there, proposing to Evan not with a ring but with a watch, knowing he disliked rings.The guy bursts into tears and hugs her tightly, saying, "I was thinking I would never meet you. You know, I was completely broken."
She replies, "Aww, sorry, I won't prank you like this again. But first, accept my proposal, or else I'll really die.""Quiet now. Don't ever do this again," Evan said angrily, tears in his eyes.
"Wait, hold on. Get up, Let's cut the cake. Forgot it's your birthday?" Anya interrupted, and they celebrated together. They cut the cake and celebrate.
Later at night, she faints at the party. He thinks she's pranking again, but since she's been unconscious for the past 10 minutes. Everyone panics. Evaan calls the doctors in panic. The doctor diagnoses her with AIDS. "She has just a few years left," the doctor says. He laughs and says, "Doctor, I won't fall for your words again." But then he realizes she really has AIDS; her fainting was all real.
Years later, a day of her death, he says, "I won't wait for you... Because I'm coming, my dear wife," and hangs himself.
Their adopted daughter, who witnessed it all, trembles and cries loudly, traumatized. She vividly recalls the tickling test, a part of their joyful memories, as she struggles to come to terms with the tragedy. Will this cycle of trauma and lovers' deaths continue?
