Alden found Harry and Hermione at the kitchen table, lost in their thoughts.
"Hey kids, I'm not sure what's got you looking so pale, but I'm sure there's no reason to worry. Unless you really hate shopping, that is. We may have to make an extra stop in Mysterium. Lady Poppy gave sent me a list of medicines for Harry."
The boy in question groaned. "Not more elixirs."
"There's no reason to worry," Alden repeated.
Five minutes later, the three stood in front of the jeweled towers of Eternalia.
It had been decided that Hermione would go with them, both to help Harry adjust to the Elvish way of things, and to pick up some school supplies for herself.
"Greetings, my friends," someone said behind them. The voice had a slight rasp to it, so Harry wasn't surprised to turn around and find an elf with smooth, gray hair and baby blue eyes, who was clearly older than most others. His ears were even pointed.
"Lord Garrick," Alden said, bowing. Hermione curtsied too, so Harry performed a shaky bow.
"Lord Alden," Garrick's raspy voice answered.
"Children, this is Lord Garrick Ollivander, our planet's sole Descryer. Garrick, this is my daughter, Hermione, and Harry Foster."
Garrick nodded along with Alden's words. Then, he turned to Harry.
"May I?"
"Um..."
"Descryers need to touch the person they are reading," Alden explained.
"Okay, go ahead."
The Ancient elf took hold of Harry's hand.
Minutes of silence has passed when Garrick finally spoke.
"Curious. Very curious."
"What does that mean sir?" Harry was sure he was about to find yet another way in which he was no normal elf.
He was right.
"It was... difficult to get a reading on you, my boy. But I think that we can expect great things from you." Garrick drifted into a series of private mutterings.
"Well, thank you for your service. We will be going now." Alden looked like he was uncomfortable interrupting Garrick.
"Thank you," Harry echoed.
Garrick stopped his garbled speech. "Wait. Do you not want we to Descry the girl as well?"
Alden blinked. "I would greatly appreciate it, if you would. I hadn't realized you still Descryed children on a normal basis."
"I don't. However, I think..."
Garrick took Hermione's hand this time, and after a much shorter interval said, "You have much potential, and much intelligence, girl. Stick with Mr. Foster. The things you can accomplish together will be great."
Garrick let go of Hermione's hand.
"Good day to you, and good luck in your journeys." The old elf left without another word.
"Well, then, children," Alden said. He looked... shaken. "We still have several more stops to make."
