I'm laying on the bed on my back, reading a book when I hear the door open. Loki walks in, looking disheveled and exhausted.
"Hello, darling," I say, smiling at him.
He doesn't respond as he walks over to me, avoiding my gaze.
"Loki?" I try again.
He gets to the bed and crawls over to me; then he puts his head under my book and on top of my chest. He lets out a huge sigh and I feel his body relax on top of mine.
"Hard day," Loki mutters before I can ask him what's wrong.
"Aww . . . I'm sorry, baby." I put the book down and wrap my arms around him, trying to offer him some comfort. I start humming, rubbing my fingers up and down his back; within a few minutes, he's asleep.
I watch him; his face, turned up toward me is so calm and peaceful, a drastic difference from when he first walked in. His deep, even breaths soothe me and I smile fondly.
"I love you, Loki," I tell his sleeping form, kissing his forehead.
Loki's green eyes flutter open and he looks at me vulnerably. "Are you all right, darling?" He asks, tucking one of my curls behind my ear.
He's worried about me, when he came in looking seconds away from breaking down. I smile again, nodding at him.
"I love you, my Queen."
"As I love you, my King."
He places a soft kiss against my lips, before settling back down against my chest. "Can you—?" He starts, but I cut him off.
"Of course, my love,." I know exactly what he wants. I start playing with his shoulder-length black hair. I massage his scalp and run my fingers through his silky lock until he falls back into a restful sleep.
I don't push him to tell me whats wrong, because I know when he wakes up, he'll be in a better mood, and he'll tell me when he's ready. I yawn and hold Loki closer to me, and allow myself to fall asleep, knowing he's right here in my arms.
