Kisaita: Burdened

Chapter 2

Months have passed and Itachi is slowly adjusting to motherhood, if it wasn't for his family he wouldn't have coped. The late night breast feedings were especially brutal, Itachi couldn't believe that someone so small could drink so much.

Itachi wakes up to the sound of Izuna crying again, as get gets up and walks to the crib he looks at his son and says, "Please Izuna its two o'clock in the morning, please go to sleep." Itachi begged his son, Izuna however continued to cry his lungs out. Itachi looks at his son with disgust and crawls back into bed and falls asleep.

The next morning Itachi wakes up and notices his room is strangely quiet, he then pulls the covers off of him in a panic and goes to Izuna's crib and sees that he's not there, panicked he then runs out of his room and looks for his son, as he enters the living room he sees Fugaku rocking Izuna in his bassinet, Itachi sighs in relief and sits down on the couch to calm his beating heart. Fugaku notices this and says, "Itachi, did you hear Izuna crying last night?" Itachi nods his head and says, "Yes... I just wanted to sleep... I hate him.... why do I hate him, I don't know what's wrong with me!" Itachi starts crying saying how he is a terrible mother, Fugaku shakes his head and says, "No Itachi that isn't true, you are a wonderful mother it's just your going through post partum depression and it's making you believe things that are not true, you'll get through this and we're here to help you." Itachi nods as his tears streams down his face and says, "Can I please go back to sleep... I am so tired." Fugaku nods his head and rubs Itachi's shoulder saying, "Of course son, sleep well." Itachi walks to his room and passes Sasuke in the hallway.

Sasuke enters the living room looking mortified seeing how Itachi looked, the messy hair, tears staining his face, his leaking chest, and finally the look of defeat and stress on his face. Naruto keeps saying that their relationship is moving to the next step, but seeing how his brother looked before and after he got pregnant, Sasuke isn't sure that he's ready. There were times that they were close to having sex, but something would come up luckily, Sasuke then takes a deep breath and thanked the heavens that something would always come up, "I love you Itachi, but I don't want to be just like you yet." Sasuke thought to himself as he leaves the house to go see Naruto.

Later in the night as Itachi lays in his bed after waking up from his nap he thinks of Shisui and how his life would have been if he was still alive. As Itachi reminisces he hears Izuna crying again, he gets up from bed and goes to the living room where his mother and father are trying to soothe him. Itachi looks at them with a smile, he then enters the living room and takes Izuna in his arms, "Hey sweet boy... Did you miss mommy?" Izuna giggles as he looks at Itachi, then Fugaku, Mikoto, and Itachi sit on the couch together as Izuna nurses, "Mother, Father... I need help." Mikoto replies, "Of course Itachi, a new baby is a lot to handle by yourself." Itachi shakes his head no and says, "No mother, I need mental health help... I love my son so much, but everytime I look at him all I can think of is Shisui's death... And that its his fault. I know that's not true, but my heart and my mind are saying two different things... Am I broken?" Mikoto shakes her head and says, "No Itachi your not broken, it sounds like your mind is the problem not you. Post partum depression is very scary, but we'll get you the help you need were here for you." Itachi smiles slightly as he looks down at Izuna. "Thank you."

Five years have pasted and Itachi had moved out of his parents home to a two bedroom apartment in the Uchiha district, he even returned to performing missions in the ANBU. Sasuke is living with his fiance Naruto and their parents are finally enjoying their retirement, but have said to their sons if anything happens they are always welcomed home. Izuna is now five years old and is starting kindergarten at the academy, "Okay Izuna do you have everything?" Itachi asked his son who is excited to go to school, "Yes mommy, I got my pencil, notebook, and everything." Izuna said with excitement, Itachi takes his son's hand and they walk to the school together. Once they arrived Itachi gave his son a hug and a kiss and says, "Mommy is going on his mission today so you'll have to stay with your grandparents for a while, but I promise i'll be back in three weeks." Izuna nods his head and says, "Okay mommy, love you be safe!" Izuna then runs to the school and leaves a sad Itachi behind.
