A bit later, Marco and I set off to head back to his place, and when we got there, Mochi was a furious cat. He was sitting on the side of the couch, screaming his face off.
"I know, I know. Sorry, I'll feed you now." I said, hold my hands up. Wren was tucked into the side of Marco's neck. He had slept the entire way back home and was miserable again when Marco woke him up.
I cracked a can of cat food open and fed him. He quieted down then because he was too busy stuffing his face with shredded chicken and rice. Marco had put Wren into a play saucer and he was touching all the toys, still looking miserable. Marco wore a similar look on his face as he stretched out on the couch.
"You two are sharing the same face today." I chuckled, leaning over the back of the couch to look at him.
"You should take time off work until we figure out who this killer is, Ambrose." Marco said.
"Sounds great, but no. I can't do that. Mia and I both need the money."
Marco clicked his tongue in annoyance, and I reached down and brushed a piece of hair from his face.
"I'll be careful though."
His look said he didn't believe me, which was alright because I didn't really believe myself either.
"If anything happens to you, you best hope you're dead before I get my hands on you—--"
"Oh, hush." I muttered, slipping two of my fingers into his mouth. His teeth locked onto my fingers and I grunted. He didn't let go either. His tongue was lapping at the ends of my fingers, while those teeth of his bit into my flesh. I used my free hand to cup his chin, and he let go of my fingers. "You're lucky you're injured, Marco."
"Am I?"
"Yes, I have a craving to fuck you, deeply." I said, lowering my voice.
He chuckled. "You'll have to wait."
"It seems I will. But, that's alright. I'll be patient, and it will be worth the wait." I whispered. Looking up, I watched mini Marco playing with all his toys, and he looked far less miserable now. "He's too cute."
Marco's phone rang, and he sighed. Fishing it out of his pocket, he answered. "Hello, Marco speaking."
Whoever was on the other line was speaking rapidly, and Marco pinched between his eyebrows.
"Mark. Just handle things like you normally do for him. He will see to that when he returns."
He rattled out a bunch more words before Marco pulled the phone away from his ear. "Just once, I would like things to stay functioning while I am away. Mark is Romeao's caretaker if you want to give him a title. He gets along with him well, and cooks, cleans, and does lord knows what else for Romeao."
"Was that the man who was here looking after Wren?" I asked.
"Possibly. Mark is one of the few people Romeao and I don't mind allowing near Wren."
Wren was giggling as he bounced around in the baby saucer. Marco reached up and tilted my chin down. "Pay attention to me, Ambrose, we were speaking."
"Sorry, Wren's little giggles caught my attention." I admitted.
He dropped his hand, and I moved around the couch to the arm, leaning down and pressing my lips to his. "Here comes your cat, Marco." I laughed, hearing Mochi's bell as he came running over. He was seeking Marco.
"He likes me." Marco smiled.
"He has good taste in men." I muttered, messing up his dark hair with my fingers. Mochi jumped up on Marco's legs and inched only close enough so that Marco would pet him. I had to head back to work tonight, and I wasn't super thrilled about it.
