The door to car 3807 opened and the electricity returned. I felt myself growing wary of this situation. Something felt wrong, perhaps it was my natural instinct?
"... Dokkaebi?" Someone on my right muttered in disbelief. I stared at the creature before me.
It had two small horns on the top of its head, a straw mat around its fluffy body, and a cunning gaze. Its large eyes studied us as we stared at it in return. As someone who knows the bare minimum of folktale, I could barely remember its description in Wikipedia, but I was sure it was something along the lines of 'deities that play tricks on humans'.
[&아#@!&아#@!]
[&아#@!&아#@!]
I felt myself furrowing my eyebrows at its broken Korean.
"What's this??"
"Augmented reality?"
That got me thinking. Who on God's green Earth would play such a stupid prank on people? Even if it were augmented reality, it would be very costly to create a projector to install onto the subway train while somehow managing to cut off the electricity supply in the train. It would be an even dumber suggestion, because it would be a complete waste of time to pull such an elaborate trick.
[Ah. Ah. Does this sound good? Ah. I had a hard time because the Korean patch didn't work. Everyone, can you hear my words?]
As stupid as people can get, everyone somehow relaxed when the Dokkaebi spoke in Korean. A brave soul in a suit stepped up to the Dokkaebi, it wasn't a very smart choice actually...
"Hey! What are you doing right now??"
Yea... Not a smart decision.
[...Huh?]
The Dokkaebi eyed him as though the man wasn't worthy of its time.
"Are you filming?? I have to get to an audition quickly," the man said in an urgent voice. He was probably some sort of background actor that most people haven't heard of.
[Ah. Auditions. That's right... This is also an audition! Haha... There was a shortage of data, so I just entered when it was monetized at 7 p.m.]
"What?? What are you talking about?"
[Now, now. All of you relax in your seats and listen to me. From now on, I will tell you something very important!]
I got the impression that this was supposed to be crucial information... However, the passengers didn't seem to be impressed.
"What? Get off the train!"
"Somebody call the captain!"
"What are they doing without the cooperation of citizens?!"
"Mama? What is that? Is it a cartoon?"
I noticed that the Dokkaebi's expression faltered and it vaguely resembled annoyance.
[Haha... You are really loud.]
This won't end well. Despite it being rather unnoticeable, the atmosphere shifted to a pressuring silence.
[I told you to be quiet.]
The Dokkaebi's eyes glowed crimson and a loud explosion came from somewhere in the train cabin. The man from before, the background actor, now had a large gaping hole in his forehead. The bloody fluids that erupted from the hole in his head were splattered onto the people who stood nearby him, and they all stared at the sight in horror.
I stifled a scream when I saw the bloody mess. I swear I could see the remnants of his brain within the ruptured skull cavity.
"Uh, uh... Uh..." Were the only sounds the man made before his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he crumpled to the ground.
