It's time to go back to Colombo, and back to the same train station from last time. By this point of time I've completely forgotten how he looks like, but still can't get him out of my mind. "HES A GUY WHO U LITERALLY MADE EYE CONTACT WITH FOR LIKE 2 SECONDS" my best friend Sithara scolded me over the phone.
"I KNOW, AND I THINK IM IN DESPERATION FOR INTENSE MENTAL HELP RIGHT NOW."
"Well I can't deny that" She said with a chuckle
"Sithu, your the one with the most experience, what do you think I should do?" I asked her miserably
"Hahah, alright alright Avanthi. Here's what I think you should do, Just try to forget about it as much as possible. And don't forget, you have to focus on your aviation training! Besides, I don't think you will see him again. And if you do, at the train station today, I BEG YOU to tell me every detail about it."
"I'll try my best Sithara, but if I ever go out of line, please knock some sense back into me. And yes, if it does happen by some miracle, I WILL tell you about it" I chuckled
Sithara is honestly the best friend I could ever wish for. She might be a little crazy, but that's what I love most about her. And not to mention, she has a LOT more experience in love then I do. She knows more about guys and their whereabouts like the back of her hand.
I check my phone, and it's already 4:30PM. My train to Colombo boards at 4:45PM, so I rush to the nearest gate. As I'm boarding the train, and looking over to locate my seat, I feel a hand tap on my shoulder. It was a well-dressed man, who I assume was around 2-3 years older than me. "I figured your seat happened to be conveniently right beside me, right over there" he pointed towards the left aisle of the train, where my seat was right next to the window. The guy seemed incredibly familiar to me, but I just couldn't remember from where he did.
As we both sit down, the train started to accelerate gradually. We started to talk, and it turned out I was right. He was around a year older than me, and worked part-time at a 5 star hotel in Colombo. He had come to visit Kandy in order to meet his childhood friends and was set to join work again this week. But Coincidentally, he arrived in Kandy on the same day that I did. Yes, on the day which, well, you know what happened.
After a while, I could tell that he was was starting to get sleepy, and became a lot more quiet. I scrolled on my phone, while secretly texting Sithara about everything that just happened.
💪💕: NO WAY, DAMNN 😏😏
You : Cmonn, it was just a small talk
💪💕 : BUT STILLL I mean who knows what this could lead to
You : Only time can tell 😭
I suddenly felt butterflies as I felt a head fall to my shoulder. He looked majestic, even when he was asleep. I took one look at his resting face, and that's when it hit me. It was him. It was him who I saw that day. It was him who just couldn't leave my mind after that day. That's why he was at the station that day. I felt a rush of emotions which I couldn't comprehend. Not once, did I ever think that I would be in this situation right now.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are pleased to announce we have arrived at Nawalapitiya, Kandy. Thank you for sitting this journey, and please exit through the doors which will open in just a few minutes time." I jolt awake to the announcer's announcement, and noticed that he was awake. "Keep in touch?" He lended me his phone, signaling to input my number. And so I gave him my number to save, we said our goodbyes, and I left to my hostel. In all seriousness, I cannot comprehend what happens today. I haven't even told Sithara about how it was actually him who I encountered today, but of course I will tomorrow, after getting the best sleep of my life tonight.
