(Y/n) POV:
You just graduated from high school. Your aunt owns a clothing store in town, so you work there. Both of your parents died in a car accident when you were 10 years old, and you had minor injuries, including a broken wrist and a broken rib. After your parents died, your aunt and uncle took you in so you wouldn't be sent to the adoption place. Around the time you turned 15, your uncle and aunt were having fights and got divorced. Your aunt had custody rights, so you never saw your uncle anymore. Once you graduated high school, you got your own place, about 8 minutes outside of town.
*timeskip to present at store*
"Hey (y/n)!" said Amy as he walked in to the store. She works there with you, and is your best friend. Amy had graduated high school the year before you, and she has been working at the store since she graduated, like you.
"Gosh Amy, you scared me! Give me a heads-up next time, please!" You said, still trying to catch your breath.
"Sorry, (y/n). I'm just so excited!" Amy said while jumping up and down.
"For what?"
"Remember how I told you about my 'friend' that doesn't particularly have any friends?"
"The guy who is always being teased for how he acts? That must be so bad for him, especially with all the things he has been through." Even though you never met Amy's 'friend' that she always talks about, you truly did feel sorry for all the trouble that Amy says he has been through.
"Yeah, him. He is supposed to be coming into town to live here, and he is going o be working here. I think he said that he is moving into Apartment #48 in the same building that you live in," Amy told you.
"Wait, did you say Apartment #48? That's right next to me! I'm in Apartment #47!" You became excited that you would be living next to your future co-worker, but you also felt nervous at the same time. What would he be like?
Just then, you heard the store door open and Amy became very excited. You turned around, thinking it was 'him', but you were wrong. Very wrong. It just so happened to be your ex-boyfriend, Sonic. You were friends with him, but felt as if you still had feelings for him. But even if you did, you couldn't get back together with him, because he was dating Amy.
"Hey Amy! Hey (y/n)!" Sonic said. You both said 'hi' back. But then you noticed someone standing behind Sonic. They were wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and listening to music through earbuds on their phone. The person had rings by their wrists and ankles that were golden, and their fur looked black, though you could see a little red here and there on their body.
Sonic was about to introduce the mysterious person when you freaked out, remembering the person. It was Shadow. You were best friends with him since you both were little. He moved away when you were going into 10th grade with him. You haven't seen him since, but here he was, standing in front of you. Guessing that he must have remembered you, he walked quickly to the back room before Sonic could say anything, dragging you with him.
