Her fingers tightened around her cell phone as anger fanned the burning hatred within her. Marta couldn't believe Warren's current attitude. She had been there for him when he lost his last job. She had supported him when he needed it the most.

But now, he had another engagement that he needed to attend.  Oh yeah, she knew all about the new tight-bodied 'girl' at the office that he couldn't stop talking about to everyone.  Slamming her phone down, Marta sprung out of her chair to pace back and forth across the hardwood floors in her living room.  This was a dilemma and needed some thought.

Who did he think he was?  He was average in looks and intelligence.  If the truth were to be told, Marta could be dating someone better. The problem was the snub to her ego.  If Warren were of sufficient intelligence, he would have realized how blessed he was to have Marta in his life. The fact was he underestimated her in every way.

The deceit and the level of scorn shown to her deserved retribution, but to what degree? Breaking up with him would give him ample opportunity to pursue that loose bit of baggage. He needed to receive a long-term reminder of the error in his decision-making.  Marta needed to find the right punishment. Unfortunately, Warren was dim enough that he might not even credit Marta with the deed.  Would it be enough for her to know?

Marta wanted him to know that his life would never be as good as when he was with Marta, and to live with the knowing.  She wanted him to suffer as she was suffering from the indignity of being the one not chosen.

Now how could she make sure that Warren would know the truth, suffer for eternity, and be unable to prove she was the culprit of his destruction?  Again, this was her dilemma.  A woman scorned is a sight to see, and Marta wanted the only person to see her to be Warren.  It's fortunate that she had the foresight to hide an Airtag in Warren's car as soon as he mentioned 'Ms. Tight-body'.

The method of retribution was more of a decision.  Marta loved murder mysteries.  Warren had laughingly commented that he couldn't believe someone as prim as Marta would be interested in reading about gruesome murders. Marta's choice of literature would prove to be Warren's demise.

A bag was packed with the tools that would lead to Warren's lifetime penance. Zip ties, a sharp knife, a knitting needle, and a handgun lay in the bottom of the satchel.  At the last minute, she added a roll of heavy-duty tape.  Marta dressed in black. It seemed fitting given her task. She drove to the restaurant where Warren dined with the hussy.

While Marta waited, she listened to Mozart's Requiem relishing in the sad melody and religious undertones.  A familiar figure approached as she slid from the car. Warren's eyes widened as he uttered, "Marta, why?"
