I arrive at mine and Jonas' bedroom already in my silk pajamas. Inside, the Preeminence, our dog, and our children sit on the floor waiting for me. They're all dressed in similar pajamas— even Darcy. The dog walks over and greets me, "Aww hello Darcy." I sit between my husband and son. Furniture in the room has been pushed towards the walls to reveal our padded rug.

On said rug are plates of grilled cheeses, pretzels, and fruits. Next to that is a covered platter which we save for the end. This is our monthly family hang out where we hold a simple dinner for just the five of us in our room.

"Hi mom!" Ines greets across from me.

"Hello baby."

We talk about how our day's been. How the weeks have been. How the month has been going. We see each other every day, but this monthly dinner is personal bonding just between us four (and Darcy).

Jonas tells us about his duties and how he recently abolished alliance with Alix, Josiah talks about how much he's recently learnt from Colton, Ines talks about her vlog channels and her training with Gwen, then I talk about how the orphanages, shelters, and donations centers I run have been going. Darcy just cuddles peacefully in my lap. We're all pretty busy people.

We've each finished a grilled cheese and are on seconds, the side dishes are half finished, and the covered platter awaits us. I know I've been eyeing it.

"Mom, Dad?"

Jonas and I look at Josiah, but Jonas answers first, "What's up Josiah?"

He leans back on his hands and looks up in thought, "How were your first encounters?" he questions in Amorian.

I glance at Jonas to my left, who smiles at me, "Your mother met me while in boxers."

I feel our kids' intense questioning expressions, "That's entirely out of context!"

"But that's the gist of it, yes?" he continues his devious grin, "They were Uncle Brydan's boxers."

Our kids make exclamations and I'm inexplicably embarrassed, "Jonaaas you need to explain these things or they're gonna interpret it wrong." I hear Ines suppressing her giggles, Josiah wears a confused stare. I'd try to explain, but I think I'd only confuse them further.

Josiah shakes his hands as if to wave the thought away, "Errasuahr" even the word whatever sounds elegant in Amorian. I still admire the language 16 years later, so that says something. Josiah keeps repeating it, probably trying to get rid of our weird meeting story, "What about after...?"

"Your grandma finds us in a room, alone, together."

"Jonas, your vagueness is confusing them."

"What makes you think that isn't my intention, love?" He leans close to my face. Darcy yips.

"Ew be lovey dovey when we're not here."

"Why?" my husband presses a brief kiss on my lips, "We're talking about our love story." Josiah covers his face and mutters that he wishes he didn't bring this up.

I turn to the kids, "After, I get wine poured down my back."

Josiah looks from between his fingers, "By who?"

"Gwen."

"But Aunt Gwen is so nice!" my daughter gasps.

"Colton didn't like me either back then."

"Uncle Colton doesn't like anyone."

Jonas laughs, "That's true Jo."

I continue the story, "Then, your dad invites me to wash myself off in his room," he looks at me, knowing where I'm going with this, "He tried to take a peek when I didn't have clothes on." Ines cackles while Josiah glowers at his father for clarification.

The preeminence stammers, "I-I did not!"

I poke his nose, "Did I fluster you, Preeminence?" Blush vaguely warms his face and he looks away.

"Is that true dad?" our daughter asks.

"No/Yes!" We answer. I keep adding on for my revenge, "He insisted I use his robe after..."

"Iris, No!"

"Your dad then told me I can only look into his eyes."

His face is flushed red. He tries to cover it with his shirt but the thin fabric can't cover how red he is, "That's not the correct context of it..."

Both the kids just look at us, giggling at our flirting. "C'mon kids; who do you trust in this story more?" I raise an eyebrow at them.

"You." she answers jokingly, to which her brother nods her head in agreement. Jonas moans and half uncovers his face, "Can we just get to dessert?"

"Finally!" I say, as if I was waiting for a cue. I uncover the platter to reveal a neat pyramid of blondies and brownies. The kids beam at their favorite dessert. My son and I opt for a brownie each while the other two grab their blondies. We even have a dog safe brownie for Darcy, made of carob. We dig in immediately.

Chiming in suddenly, I say, "We had our first kiss over brownies and blondies."

"Mooooommmm!!" the kids groan. In my peripheral I notice Jonas smirking— handsome as ever.
