Dr. Nam and Phupha finished chatting, and Phupha gestured for Yod and Rang to gather the kids so that they could return. The children got upset because they wanted to play more, but they had been given assurances that they would have the chance in the future to do so.
Phupha said to Tian, "Let's go back to Phapirun unit. The rangers prepared food for you."
"Well isn't that cute." Tian said as he chuckle.
Phupha extended a helping hand and assisted his husband in standing. As they walked down the hill to the unit, Phupha wrapped his arm again around his waist. Before following them to the unit, Rang made sure to get the children back safely to their house.
At the unit, many of the forest rangers were waiting for them. Everyone took extra special care of Tian because it was a special day and because the Chief had instructed them to do so. The rangers asked him what he liked, provided him with a drink, placed a fan next to him so he wouldn't feel too hot, and more. This feels like his lifestyle before he planned to stay in Phu Pan Dao. His maid would do all the necessary work just for him. He feels uncomfortable because of years of adjusting himself in that place to do all the work himself.
"This is too much." Tian said to his husband, knowing full well that this was his idea.
"Let them spoil you, Tian. Just relax for today." Phupha told him.
Right now, despite the delicious food offered to him, Tian could only eat so little. He cannot feel the appetite to eat anymore.
While eating, Dr. Nam sat beside him.
"Phupha said you got dizzy this morning. Are you okay?" Dr. Nam asked.
"It's the usual dizziness every morning. Good thing he has this." Tian showed him the inhaler that Phupha gave him. "I feel much better now. But we did a lot of walking, so I'm tired now." Tian said, chuckling.
"Well, he prepared a lot for today, so expect a lot of walking." Dr. Nam said.
"I'll be okay. Phupha is with me." Tian assured him, and that's enough for Dr. Nam.
"I know Phupha is against this Tian. Everyone is. I know you don't want this either but.. we understand. This is for the best." Dr. Nam said and Tian could only smile.
The small party continued until late afternoon. Tian was enjoying to all the entertainment that the rangers had prepared but then Phupha excused themselves because they still need to go to other places. They all saluted when they were leaving.
This time, Phupha led him to the location of the waterfall. It is one of Tian's favourite places. Going there was a little more difficult this time, but Tian was sure Phupha won't let anything bad happen to them.
The married couple was now walking to the waterfall while holding hands. The tree that is familiar to them is now in their path. Years have passed, yet they can still clearly recall the first time they passed by and spotted the two hornbills. However, there is currently just one hornbill left. Just one year ago, its partner passed away. Just like in the story, the hornbill did stay in the same place, just like they always did before.
"True love really exists huh?" Tian said while looking at the lonely hornbill sitting on a branch, overlooking the beautiful view.
Phupha raised Tian's hand that he was holding and kissed the top of it.
"It truly does and I will forever prove that to you."
The couple travelled on after the little stop till they eventually reached the waterfall. Tian carefully crouched at the edge and dipped his hand into the cold water.
