"Can you count 1000 stars for me, Chief Phupha?" Tian asked.

Phupha closed his eyes for a moment. It's the question he badly don't want to hear right now. His felt his heart is being stabbed right now.

"Please? You promised.."

~ Flashback a week ago ~

Tian has been experiencing dizziness lately, to the point that he may occasionally pass out, so he was sent to the local hospital by ambulance. Everyone's starting to worry about him. Not even Dr. Nam was able to identify the appropriate medication that would help him.

Ever since his students were added, Tian has been traveling daily between school and home and has hardly had time to relax. Due to their respective work schedules, Phupha regrets not spending more time with his husband.

But recently, Tian has grown restless that not even his medication is helping him. Phupha is so consumed with worrying about his husband that he is unable to concentrate on his work at all. To determine what was wrong with him, they ran a variety of tests. For this reason, Tian was admitted to the hospital once more, and his doctor visited him to discuss the result.

Before telling them, Phupha held Tian's hand right away while the doctor went through the paperwork he was holding. The only reason Dr. Nam is with them is to make sure he is mindful of Tian's health and cautious about what he gives him.

"We checked all the results of your tests to see if there are other causes of why you are fainting or getting dizzy. There are some complications, but.." The doctor paused for a moment and looked at the married couple and Dr. Nam.

"It's alright, Doctor. Whatever it is, you can say it," Tian said.

"Heart transplants are the most crucial operation. You are blessed to reach this long considering you have suffered some complications like fainting, exhaustion, and many more."

"But why am I feeling this way? I've been constantly checked by Dr. Nam, and I never ever stop taking my medications," Tian said.

"Like I said, Tian, you're blessed to reach this far. It's just that.." The doctor paused, trying to look for the right words to say.

"Just please go straight to the point, doctor." Phupha said, getting impatient.

"To put it simply, Tian's heart is getting tired now. It wants to rest.. for good," the doctor said.

Nobody knew what to say. Hearing the news, Phupha instantly released Tian's hand. Both of them are attempting to comprehend what the doctor just revealed. Even though Tian knew this day would arrive, he had no idea it would arrive so soon. He believed that he would be in good enough health to spend as much time as possible with Phupha.

"No wonder your blood sugar is high and you're constantly getting dizzy or even fainting. We thought it was just because you've been busy teaching," Dr. Nam said, putting all that he observed in Tian over the past few weeks like puzzle pieces.

"There must be something else we could do," Phupha said.

He cannot just let his husband die like this. They made a vow to live a happy life together, and he has sworn to look after and love him to the best of his abilities.

"Actually, there is an option for a second heart transplant." The doctor suggested.

"Let's do that!" Phupha didn't hesitate to respond.

"Phupha, please think about it first." Dr. Nam said.

"Think about what? We have to act fast. I can't let my husband suffer anymore and.."
