THE GROUP WALKED in the woods, pointing their flashlights around them. Daisy and Jude walked behind the group, Daisy had not let go of Jude's hand ever since they left the bus.
"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas asked.
"Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt." Dustin replied.
"He was tiny two days ago." Max jumped in.
"Well, he's molted three times already."
"Malted?" Steve asked.
"Molted. Shed his skin to make room for growth like hornworms."
"When's he gonna molt again?" Jude questioned from behind the group.
"It's gotta be soon. When he does, he'll be fully grown, or close to it. And so will his friends." Dustin explained, making Daisy feel more nervous.
"Yeah, and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats." Steve added, making the group stop.
"Wait, a cat? Dart ate a cat?" Lucas asked, pushing Dustin's shoulder.
"No, what? No." Dustin lied, making Jude roll his eyes.
"Didn't he eat your cat? Mews?" Daisy added, making all eyes snap to her.
"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max asked, turning to Daisy.
"It's Dustin's cat." Daisy added more quietly.
"Daisy!" Dustin shouted at the girl, who furrowed her eyebrows.
"I knew it! You kept him!" Lucas shouted at Dustin.
"No! No. No, I... No, I..." Dustin faltered, giving up. "He missed me. He wanted to come home."
"Bullshit!"
"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, okay?"
"Oh, so now you admit it?" Lucas shouted.
"Guys, who cares? We have to go." Jude butted in trying to push the boys away.
"I care! You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!" Lucas yelled.
"So did you!" Dustin snapped, pointing his flashlight at Max and Daisy's faces, "You told strangers the truth!"
Daisy rolled her eyes as Max defended herself, Jude spoke up, "Daisy isn't a stranger!"
"You wanted to tell her, too!"
"But I didn't, Lucas, okay?" Dustin responded. "I didn't tell her!"
A screech was heard in the distance that caught Steve's attention. Daisy heard it too but was wrapped up in the argument that Lucas and Dustin were having.
