Cody's pov

Well, here I was. Standing in the entrance of my new high school, with no friends to experience it with. But, it's a new year! I'm sure I'd make some new friends, but if I don't, I'm sure I'll be fine.. right? Suddenly, a fellow freshman speeds by me, papers flying out of his unzipped backpack.

"Excuse me.. uh, you dropped some papers!"

He turns around, and I suddenly realize who I was speaking to.

"Noah?! What are-"
He snatches his papers out of my hands before I can finish, then continues to speed away.
Whatever, it's not like I can expect him to want to talk to me.. but it still hurts. I start to walk to my home room, because the bell was about to ring.

Noah's pov

Great. Just what I needed. As Cody stands up, I snatch my things from him before he can say anything. I don't feel like dealing with him, especially not on the first day. One of the papers that had fallen out was my schedule, which was just as well because I had absolutely no idea where I was going.

"Let's see, room 137 for home room."

Cody and I were friends back in 7th grade, until we had an argument, which I don't feel like going into. After that argument, my family moved away, because my dad got a new job in good ol' New York. I was a bit upset back then, despite the fact we had had that argument, that I was leaving Cody, but I couldn't care less about him anymore. The office in New York closed recently, so we moved back to Connecticut. I got to the room, sat down in my assigned seat, I know, assigned seats in high school. Guess they don't trust us. I pull out my book, and who else do I see, but Cody coming into home room. He speaks quietly to the teacher, looks over at me, sighs, then walks over. Of course, he just had to be assigned to sit next to me.

Cody's pov

Oh no. Ohhh no. I have to sit next to Noah. It's not like I don't want to try to become friends with him again, but I know he doesn't. And I know it's not gonna help when I have to SIT NEXT TO HIM. At least he knows it's not my choice, so he doesn't think I'm too clingy. I glance at him, and catch him giving me an annoyed look, so I know I need to mind my business. I decide the best course of action would be to just take out my own book.

"Alright everyone, time for role call. You know the drill, say here when I call your name."

After role call, we did basic first day stuff. Ice breakers, the we went over the syllabus. We had to talk to our "partner", just the person sitting next to us, for the last few minutes of class. Yay for me, am I right?

"So uh, Noah-"

Before I can say anything, the bell rings, and Noah, as I should of guessed, sped off. Hoo boy.
