As I entered my new school building eyes were upon me, most judging me and some well not judging me as much 

This consisted of only three black persons, myself, my brother who was conveniently sick on our first day, and another girl whom I have yet to see in this white and Spanish school

I felt out of place like I wasn't meant to be here, but was I meant to be anywhere because of my race?

Even though it was the 21st century it seems most of our minds were stuck back into slavery days

Stopping at locker number 17 I twisted the lock and it opened, Before my books could be placed neatly inside a bunch of students slapped them from my hold and they crashed to the floor causing a loud roar in the hallway which fell silent

I looked away from the stares embarrassed by the incident that just occurred before picking my books up 

A dark skin hand reached out and helped me and I looked up to see the other African-American girl

''Hi I'm Tiana, You must be Heaven'' she said as we stood up

''That's me'' I replied softly still flustered from the incident that occurred

'' guessing they started already?''

'' Unfortunately'' I muttered putting my books inside 

''They will lay off eventually'' she said shrugging

'' Mercury just because you're a future alpha doesn't mean you get to dress anyway'' A mixed lady said scolding a gorgeous boy whom I will most definitely not have a chance with 

'' Actually, I can because soon I will be ruling you boo'' he said grinning mischievously before running down the hall with another guy as the teacher yelled

'' Alpha?'' I questioned

'' Oh you didn't hear, well Of course this side of town is never spoken about at all, this town consists of both humans and wolves as hard as it may be to believe, like that for example'' she said pointing to two wolves that ran into the school and turned human in a second

'' what the fuck, can this get any worse'' I said hugging my books tightly and feeling threatened

''It maybe could'' Tiana said shrugging as we walked down the hall together to our math class

'' Great just wonderful'' I muttered

Time- 6 pm

''How was school?'' my mom asked sliding a plate in front of me which was turkey-neck, rice and peas, corn and raw vegetables

'' totally didn't get my books knocked from my hands but other than that pleasant'' I said with sarcasm

'' it will get better sweetie''

''Sure it will Mama'' Aurora said coming downstairs and ruffling my locs

'' Nova is so lucky she got to stay back''

'' well Nova is grown'' Dad said

'' and I'm not?'' Aroura said sipping her water 

''We had this conversation so drop it'' Dad said giving her a stern look

''Oh did you know we live in a neighborhood a matter of fact this whole village consists of werewolves Way to put your kids in danger parents'' Brandon said coming downstairs and coughing

'' We were going to tell you, kids''

'' what if one of us gets mated with these things?'' Aurora said 

''Well such is life'' Dad said tapping our heads before leaving the kitchen

'' who's he'' Aurora said making me look up almost meeting eye contact with Mercury

'' his name is Mercury He's supposedly the future alpha and conveniently neighbor who I find cute'' I said and I saw his lips turn up into a smile

'' Oo baby sis got a crush'' Aurora said teasing me pinching my cheeks

'' It will never happen ''

'' You never know have faith '' she said kissing my cheek and pulling me into a hug as I leaned my head on her shoulder
