Joel and Tommy rushed into the town, they got off their horses and started helping the girl up. She was still unconscious.

"What the hell, is going on! You guys said you were just gonna go looting. Who the hell is this?"

Maria shouted, Joel carried the girl off the horse,

"We found her unconscious behind the convenient store, some guys dropped her off...they ran off..."

Joel continued to carry her and quickly went to the infirmary, Maria groaned and followed Joel and Tommy.

They got the girl on a bed and soon some people started helping her. They escorted Joel and Tommy out, it really was a ugly sight...

...a couple days later...

Joel was doing some work around town, helping if anyone needed help with anything throughout the cold winter. Joel was on a latter, working on light.

"Joel!"

Tommy shouted, sounding a bit concerned as he ran up to Joel. Joel looked back,

"Tommy..?"

Joel walked down the latter and walked up to Tommy, the expression in his eyes could tell it all...The worry and anticipation coming from Tommy radiated off of him. Tommy gently nodded, Joel instantly knew, he sighed and rushed to the infirmary with Tommy.

They stepped into the large building. People in beds, coughing, resting or having people over to visit. At the end of the room, the girl they saved was sat up, staring at her own hands. She looked miserable, and tired, the bruises and cuts that covered her body, now patched.

Maria sat next to her bed, asking muffled questions,

"What's your name?"

"Where are you from?"

"Do you have parents, spouses,  friends you could get a hold of?"

"How old are you?"

"Do you live near by?"

"How many people do you
have in your group?"

Every question Maria would ask, the girl wouldn't respond,

"Maria, give the girl a break, she just woke up."

Tommy says as he walks up beside Maria, Tommy rubs Maria's back,

"Let's just give her some space right now, let her settle and wrap her mind around things first,"

Tommy smiled and looked at the girl,

"We'll be back in about 15-30 minutes, to check on you."

The girl didn't acknowledge Tommy, she sat still staring at her hands, Joel noticed and looked at her hands, they trembled a bit. Joel went by her bedside and crouched down, making sure she saw him.

"I'm sure you know there's a good and bad, in groups like these...We understand you're hurt, both emotionally and physically, so we're gonna give you space and time. We'll be back in about 15-30 minutes,"

Joel looked at Tommy and Maria,

"This is Tommy, and Maria,"

Joel looked back at the girl, she slowly shifted her eyes to look at Joel. Joel took a deep breath,

"I'm Joel..."
