3rd POV
"Kaga?" Y/N inquired, she was confused and didn't understand why someone would do something like that. Ayato gave her a gentle smile and eased his hand on her shoulder.
"It's okay," Ayato consoled, "Everything's gonna be fine soon. If you ever see him with your own two eyes stalking you, then just let me know. I'll 'handle' him."
"Handle him?" Y/N laughed a little but the nervousness was evident in her voice, "Handle him how?"
"Don't you worry about that," Ayato smiled, "Leave that for me to think about."
Y/N smiled back and nodded, "Alright then. Let's head back before class starts. We don't want to be late now."
"Yeah," Ayato agreed as they both walked down the hill together. There was a comfortable silence where Ayato just thought,
'It feels good knowing she confides in me because she genuinely trusts me. It feels as if, I don't really have to murder people for her to be mine, Budo aside. I just have to protect her from all the evils that's out in this harsh world. She's all mine.'
Ayato and Y/N reached the classroom and they took seats next to each other. Y/N took her phone out and saw that, that same unknown number that Ayato assumes to be Kaga Kusha had messaged her.
Unknown
You don't know much about Aishi. Don't try to get too close with him. He's trouble, I assure you. He's a murderer.
Y/N's jaw hardened as she gritted her teeth.
"You okay, Y/N?" Ayato asked, concerned.
"I...Yeah. I'm fine," Y/N smiled, lying.
I couldn't be telling him about this already. I mean, not that I doubt him but it seems very precise that Kaga or whoever this unknown person is decides to tell me that Ayato is a murderer. But there is no concrete evidence of this, is there?
Unless, he could prove it to me I wouldn't believe anything he says.
Either way I don't know why the thought of Ayato murdering someone seemed so...I don't know, suiting? It felt as if, it was the Ayato-kind-of-thing to do.
"You sure? You look slightly disturbed," Ayato asked, tilting his head.
"Yeah, I'm fine," She reassured and just then more students started to come in the classroom and they left their conversation forgotten.
Afterschool
Finally, school had ended. Ayato proposed to walk Y/N back to her house and she happily agreed given the fact that there was a creepy stalker on her back. They reached her house unharmed and she invited him to come in for a bit before he headed to his own house.
He smiled and took her offer up. He came in to the living room where they both sat down on the couch.
"Anything you would want to talk about?" Y/N asked.
"Hm...how are you coping?" Ayato asked, "About the stalker thing? Are you scared or do you believe they'd do no harm?"
"I'm not exactly scared," Y/N said, thinking, "I guess, it was a shocker. I always believed myself to be quite boring."
"You're wrong at that one," Ayato chuckled, "You're not boring at all, Y/N. You're an interesting person who I like to spend all my time around with."
"Aw, that's so sweet, thank you," Y/N said, blushing slightly, "You know, my dating life had always been very quite and I guess, that made me believe that boys did not talk to me because I was a boring person or something like that. Then I thought it was my looks and that reasons for why I am sort of awkward socially. I'm not really much confident about my looks or personality or anything, to be honest."
"Well, I'm glad you're confiding within me and all," Ayato said, leaning back, "But I assure you, you're the prettiest and sweetest girl I've ever met. You always put others in front of you despite being in such a bad situation yourself."
"It's not like that..." Y/N denied, but she knew it was true.
She always put her friends before herself. She let her former best friend date her crush and she had to support it. She always remained kind with others though she wasn't really the type of person who should be doing that because people hardly even spoke with her let alone be nice to her.
"Trust me, I've seen what you're like," Ayato said, and closed his eyes, resting them, "Maybe you should just try to see how you behave with others. Like when we met for example. You just said you're not the best at socialising. Yet when I was sad, you came forward and asked me the reason. You spoke with me and you pulled me out of a phase which could've been the cause for me either being here or not being here. You're the kindest soul I've ever had the pleasure of coming across."
Y/N was almost tearful. Who'd ever imagine Ayato to ever be capable of murder? He was the sweetest and kindest guy she had ever met. He saw her kindness, the first ever person to acknowledge it. He saw how pure her soul was in reality. She didn't know how to feel. She wasn't sure whom to believe.
Everything seemed so real yet so fake. Was Ayato faking his affection? If that were the case, she never wanted it to end. She wanted to live in this delusional world. It was too perfect.
She wiped away her tear before it could fall. She knew, one day she'd finally come to a conclusion. She felt strange. As if she was falling for Ayato. The only person who cared about her true self. She almost had thought that she forgot how to be happy but now she just felt complete. She was the happiest she had ever been.
