~Dan~
Dan sat alone at the old piano in his bedroom.
He'd been learning a new piano piece on and off for two months now, but that night, he was determined to perfect it - and he was beginning to.
The song was Ingenue, by Atoms For Peace. Though, he'd chosen the piano version by Thom Yorke to learn. After all, it's... well, it's the piano version.
And so he sat on his butt-chair (ironic but cool purchase), his fingers placed on the white keys and the black keys, trying to perfect every mistake he made.
Despite the learning process, playing the piano made Dan really relaxed. And although Phil always made him relaxed as well, the alone time was nice. His best friend was in the next room, editing away, so being the partially deaf human that Phil was, he probably couldn't hear him over his giant headphones.

~Phil~
Phil swept his headphones off of his head, and sighed as he lay back onto his bed. Editing was tiring him out, and he wasn't even halfway through his next video. Something about animals. He couldn't bear to think about it right now, he was just so tired.
Instead of the repetitive sound of him talking into his camera, Phil picked up on something else. A mixture of groans and a familiar piano tune - Ingenue? That's Dan practicing.
Another small groan. And he's getting annoyed about it.
Phil managed to slide himself out of his bed, and out of the door past Dan's room. He couldn't help but sit down outside of his door and listen. Dan had obviously been practicing for a while, and it showed - he went ages without slipping up and starting again, each time followed by a small groan. A little smile formed on Phil's lips, and he leant back and closed his eyes as he listened.
Phil could fall asleep to Dan playing the piano.
Admittedly, he didn't find Dan's 1AM piano playing sessions annoying. He loved listening to them as he went to sleep, even if he did jump when Dan bashed a few keys when he got annoyed.
And now, outside Dan's door, to the sweet sound of Dan playing the piano, Phil started to fall asleep.

Dan was still practicing the song. The last time he checked his clock, it was a quarter to eleven - the neighbours must hate him right now, and Phil must be annoyed too. Though they never complained to him, and Phil hadn't said goodnight yet, so that must mean they didn't mind.
He almost finished playing the whole song through with no mistakes, when he heard a pretty loud thud from outside his door, and managed to see a blue shirt in the crack of the door.
The look on his face was quite priceless at that moment.
"Phil?!"
With a closer look - which involved Dan getting up out of his butt chair and opening the door - Dan realised that Phil had fallen over, but wasn't getting up.
"Just... laying outside my door, are you?"
No response.
"PHIL!?" He couldn't have collapsed, could he?
Dan didn't have to worry about Phil collapsing for long, because when he shouted his name, Phil bolted straight up.
"Oh my god!" He looked up at Dan. "Oh my- haha! Oops." He giggled to himself.
"What the fluff? Phil, did you fall asleep outside my door?"
"Yeah," Phil said, grinning, which made Dan grin too. "I was listening to you play the piano. It's really relaxing, even when you bash the keys."
Dan hid his mouth with his sleeve and laughed a bit. "Really."
"Yeah! Can you play again? Please?" Phil asked. Of course, Dan couldn't say no even if he wanted to - how could he say no to Phil when he said please with his pretend puppy dog eyes.
"What, so you can fall asleep again?"
"Well, yeah, it's really relaxing." Phil half-dragged himself over to Dan's bed, grabbing a pillow and hugging it at the foot of his bed. Dan stared at Phil for a moment before forcing himself back to the butt chair, and playing again. He looked back at Phil gain before he started, smiled at the almost-asleep-with-his-eyes-half-open man on his bed.
His fingers found their place on the keys again, and he started to play. He put all his concentration into not pessing up, and not bashing the keys so he wouldn't wake Phil.
On Dan's bed, Phil was smiling himself to sleep.

Dan was almost finished playing when he stopped, suddenly. He was hit with some sudden emotion, and he found that he was- he was crying?
Dan sniffed and just sat there, staring at the keys. Behind him, he heard a shuffle.
"Dan?" Phil knelt beside him and saw the tear roll along Dan's cheek. "Dan, you didn't mess ot up, the song was beautiful! You played it really nicely, don't worry. I loved it." He gave Dan a little hug.
Dan smiled slightly as Phil pulled away. "No, it's not that." Phil wiped the tear away from Dan's cheek as Dan turned to face him.
"Well, kind of. It's a really beautiful song, so..." He looked his best friend right in the eyes.
"It just reminded me of how much I Iove you. That's all. I love you, Phil Lester."
