Kayla and I parked our bikes at a bike rack beside a restaurant that we were familiar with and we enter the said restaurant through the back door and I'm instantly greeted with the mouth watering aroma of bacon and grilled chicken.
Much to our parents dismay, Kayla and I take part time jobs as waitresses at a very respectable restaurant with a nice pay and it was less hostile.
"It's a good thing we came early cause I'm so hungry," Kayla says as she takes out the wrapped sandwich from her bag and sits on a nearby stool by the wall.
"Not for long, our shift is in," I peered at the analog clock on the wall of the staff quarters. "Five minutes so best be getting ready now," I say as I take my Mason's place customized shirt with apron and enter the dressing room."Darn it!" I hear Kayla mutter just as I closed the door behind me.
I took off my shirt and wore the customized shirt of the restaurant, tied the short apron around my waist and packed my hair up in a high ponytail.
On second thought, rolling my hair up in a bun would be better, for safety precautions.I emerge from the dressing room as I did finishing touches to my hair now packed into a bun and I'm aware of the presence of three more of the staff which are most probably on the same shift as I and Kayla.
"Hi Jackie," I greet the brunette who's seated farthest from Kayla.
I'm greeted by a terrifying rolling of the eyes by the said female.
I'll take that as a greeting then.
"Hello Sean," I proceed to the next person who acknowledges me by a slight nod of the head but is rather busy on his phone.
*Most probably texting a nonexistent girlfriend,* Came a sassy remark inside my head.
What the fu—
*Ah ah! language Iris, wouldn't want the servant to know more than the master.*
It's you again!
This is crazy.
I'm having an inner battle with myself.
I'll just pretend I didn't hear you because it's utterly ridiculous and pointless arguing with my very. own. self.
*Sass queen!*
Says the pot! Have you heard yourself? You are an alternate version of me!
*oh now you're talking to me? That's rich coming from someone who mistakes me for her subconscious!*
What?
"Uhh... Iris?" Came a concerned voice which turned out to be Kayla's.
"Hm?" I look up to meet Kayla's concerned expression.
"What is it?"
"You sorta zoned out there, I even called your name a few times... is everything alright?"
"Y-yeah I'm fine," I reassured Kayla as I proceeded to take an empty stool and sit beside Kayla."Hello Winnie," I greet the last person in the room and I'm greeted back by a glare which is all she has been giving me ever since I started working in this establishment.
The door at the other side of the staff quarters open and five more people fill this room.
With Ximena."Hola chica!" I could literally hear the smile in her voice and before I could reply, I was collided with her as she hugged— ahem constricted the breath out of me.
"Oh how I've missed thee..."
Here comes the dramatics.
"We've been parted away so long my friend that I feared our friendship would be lost in the void," Cue the fake sobs on my shoulder.
"Mena?"
"Hmm?"
"We met last week," I deadpanned.
The said girl falters in her act and then covers her slip up with:
"Yeah, last week Monday," she counters.
"Alright, bring it here, I've missed you too," I say giving Ximena a nice, less hostile-to-my-lungs hug.
"Me too."
"I've been so lonely this past week," I jokingly said.
I hear a distant, harsh ahem from Kayla's direction.
Oops.
"Uh hellooo? In case you've forgotten it's our shift now!" Says a rather pissed Kayla.Mika and Jimena never got along.
Which is surprising as their resemblance in character is uncanny.
Oh well, like poles repel I guess.
