Info- Reader is the school's heartthrob but they don't want anyone but him. Cherry Tree confession (cliche ik)
Trigger Warnings: None
------------------------------
I push open the glass school doors. As I walk, guys and girls alike whisper and fawn over me, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Like always, I don't pay them any mind and go straight to my locker.
I put my combination on my lock and open my locker, watching as a handful of confession letters fall out onto the smooth school floors. I grab the things I need from my locker, close it, and lock it. Sighing, I pick up the letters from the floor and toss them in the nearest trash can. I don't bother reading them because I know none of them are from him.
Kim Seungmin. He's more of a quiet kid, whose very into the music department. I heard him sing once at a school concert a couple of years ago, his voice is smooth and heavenly, and at that moment I fell for him. He's kind too, I've seen him frequently help teachers and other students with things, no questions asked.
The only problem is, I'm practically invisible to him. The only guy I want, and the only guy who doesn't want me. Is that why I'm drawn to him?
I sigh and shake the thoughts from my mind, I step into the classroom and he catches my eye. He looks flawless. I quickly walk to the back of the class, taking my seat in the classroom. I stare out the window, spacing out before class begins. My mind runs wild. "Y/n? Earth to Y/n!" My best friend, Wonyoung says, breaking me out of my trance.
"Huh?" I say, startled. Wonyoung laughs. "I asked if you were okay. You've been spacing out for a while," She pauses, and an evil smirk appears on her face. "You were thinking of him, weren't you?" She says loud enough for some people to turn their heads back to us in shock, including him.
I shush her frantically. "No! I was just..." I trail off. "Thinking about, uh, my next classes," I lie. She giggles. "Yeah, sure. Now pay attention," She turns in her seat to face the board. Other students who were looking at us do the same while others keep looking at me in confusion. I hide my face with my hand for a second before looking up. I catch Seungmin looking at me and I quickly cover my face again.
'God this is so stupid...' I mentally facepalm.
---------------------hours later--------
I was too busy doodling in my notebook to pay attention to what the teacher was talking about. A ding sounds from my phone. I pick my phone up and read the message on the home screen. It's from Wonyoung. "Wanna go to lunch?" It reads. I send a quick "Sure" back before setting my phone back down. We don't usually leave the campus for lunch so I'm a bit suspicious of her motives.
After 30 minutes more of a boring lecture, the bell finally rings. I grab my stuff and quickly head out the door. I put my things in the locker before meeting Wonyoung outside of the school. "So, what are you planning?" I say. Wonyoung laughs nervously. "What do you mean?" She asks. I look at her with a deadpan expression. "We rarely leave the school for lunch. The last time we did was because you were getting me out of the school so someone could make a homecoming proposal for me." I explain.
She laughs again. "It's nothing, I just wanted to get out of the school for a bit." She says, I look at her with suspicion but say nothing else.
----------------------back at school--------
Wonyoung and I walk in the halls together, chatting happily about things. We get to my locker and I start unlocking it. Once I open it, I see a letter taped to the back wall. I take it off and look over it, before setting it down and not giving it another glance. "Aren't you going to read it?" Wonyoung says while looking over my shoulder. I shake my head. Wonyoung puts her hands on my shoulders. "Oh come on! Read it! I want to see," She says excitedly.
I sigh and pick up the letter before carefully opening it. Inside there's a light blue sheet of paper with neat black writing on it. It says;
"Dear Y/n,
I've been meaning to tell you how your presence has struck a chord in my heart, but I've never had the guts to tell you. Your captivating aura and effortless charm have always caught my attention.
I doubt you've noticed me, but I've been silently admiring you from a distance. Your popularity doesn't intimidate me; instead, it only amplifies my admiration for you. It's your confidence and magnetic personality that make my heart skip a beat.
Your ability to command attention and make hearts swoon is truly remarkable. You may not realize it, but you have a very special place in my heart. One that I shall cherish even if you do not reciprocate my feelings.
So please, Y/n, would you meet me at the cherry tree after school?
With all my heart,
-KS"
I read over the initials again. My heart beats faster, none of the letters have been that meaningful or had that much emotion in them. 'KS... Kim Seungmin? No, it couldn't be,'
"Aww! That was so cute!" Wonyoung squeals. "Are you going to go?" She says. My eyes don't leave the letter. "I don't know, maybe," I say.
---------------------After School------
Wonyoung eventually persuaded me to meet whoever it was under the tree. She immediately rushed me out to the tree at the back of the school. I look around and see no one there. I lean against the tree for a couple of minutes and wait.
Nothing.
I sit down, resting against the tree, and close my eyes. I listen to the chirping of the birds and the faint sounds of cars driving. I release a sigh.
"Y/n?" My eyes snap open. "Sorry, I'm late... I got caught up with something, but you came!" Seungmin says. My eyes widen in shock. "Wait, you-" I start. "Yes, I wrote the letter." He cuts me off. He holds his hand out for me to take. I set my hand on his hand and he gently pulls me to my feet, except afterward, he doesn't let go of my hand.
"L/n Y/n, I've liked you- no, loved you for years." His grip on my hand tightens. "Will you be my partner?" My eyes widen in shock as I take a moment to process what he has just said. Quickly, a smile spreads across my face as I nod my head in response. "Really?!" Seungmin says excitedly. I nod my head again, a large smile grows on his face and he pulls me into a tight hug.
I wrap my arms around his waist as he wraps his arms around my neck. "I'm so happy," He whispers into my shoulder. "Me too..." I whisper back. He pulls back and holds my face with his hand. His gaze flickers from my eyes to my lips and back up again. Slowly he leans in closer to me, pausing with our lips centimeters apart. He looks up at me for permission and I nod slightly.
Gently he connects our lips.
