"The world had known peace since the dawn of time, but the sudden appearance of demons shattered that tranquility. It was a horrifying sight – lifeless bodies strewn about, and the cries of desperate humans echoing through the air. Humanity had been slow to react, but in the darkest of moments, an unknown group emerged, bringing a glimmer of hope."

My mother paused, her raspy voice giving way to a fit of coughing. I watched, concerned, from her bedside.

"The world was returned to peace once more," she continued, closing the ancient tome resting on her lap. She coughed again, blood staining her handkerchief.

"Mommy, I'll grow up strong to fight those monsters!" I declared, trying to mask my fear.

A weak smile graced my mother's face as she touched my cheek. "I know you can, dear."

After giving her some water, I left her room, heading to my own. There, I knelt beside my bed to pray.

"Shining star above, please make my mother healthy again," I whispered, finishing my prayer before drifting off to sleep.

**Next day**

I awoke to the sound of my mother's violent coughing. Panic gripped me, and I rushed to her room, peering through the door.

She was coughing uncontrollably, blood staining her sheets. Without hesitation, I ran to her side.

"Mom, are you okay?" I pleaded, but she couldn't hear me over her coughing.

"Mommy? Mommy!" I cried, tears welling up at the thought of losing her.

"M-Mom, I'll be back! I'll call for help!" I declared, leaving in haste, clutching the money I had saved, and making my way to the nearby church.

**At a nearby church**

"Please, help my mother," I begged, handing over my savings to a wandering priest.

"I'm sorry, but I'm busy," the priest replied impatiently, dismissing me.

"Please, help me," I implored once more.

The priest sighed, eyeing the money. "Look, kid, your money isn't enough for our assistance. Please leave."

Desperation filled me. "Please..."

With reluctance, the priest took my money and instructed me to wait at home. Overjoyed, I rushed back.

**Back Home**

"Mommy, don't worry, the priest will come and heal you," I assured my mother, who still coughed weakly.

She managed a fleeting smile before another fit of coughing overtook her. I waited for hours, clutching her hand, but there was no sign of the priest.

Growing anxious, I returned to the church, seeking answers.

"Where's the priest I paid for?" I asked the church officials, only to be met with indifference.

"Priest? When did you request one?" they replied coldly.

"But I paid..." I stammered.

"You didn't pay," the priest I had given my money to said, a wicked smirk on his face.

"How dare you try to scam us, you fiend!" the head priest accused.

Terrified, I fled home, my heart heavy with guilt and sorrow.

"I'm sorry, Mommy," I sobbed at her bedside, realizing the gravity of the situation. But it was too late; she was gone.

As tears streamed down my face, I made a solemn vow, looking up at the night sky. "I will become an Alchemist, and finish what my mother couldn't."

**Lezar Academy**

Lezar Academy, once reserved for nobles and royalty, opened its doors to commoners due to a wave of monster attacks controlled by demons. At twelve, we could enroll.

In the examination room:

"Now, our scholar, Rosealine, please step forward and touch the crystal ball," the instructor called.

I obeyed, placing my hand on the crystal ball. It glowed and displayed a hologram.

The examiner asked, "What class do you choose, Rosealine?"

"I'd like to study Alchemy," I replied enthusiastically.

"What?!" the 3rd Prince of Saghar Kingdom exclaimed, storming toward me.

Ignoring his anger, I replied with determination, "This is what I love to do."

The prince's dissatisfaction was evident, but I paid him no mind as I walked away.

=================================

Enrolled in Lezar Academy, I entered my dormitory, where I was greeted by a violet-haired girl brimming with excitement.

"Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Sarah," she exclaimed, extending her hand.

"I'm Rosealine," I replied with a smile, shaking her hand.

"Are you a commoner too?!" Sarah asked excitedly.

As I tried to calm her down, her face lit up with recognition. "You're that girl who stood up to the 3rd Prince, aren't you?"

I nodded, acknowledging the rumor.

Sarah gave me a tour of the dormitory. Later, she turned serious. "Are you sure you don't want to learn Magic?"

I sighed. "I'm sure. Alchemy is my passion."

She smiled and said, "Good night, Rose."

As I settled in my bed, I gazed at the night sky, feeling excited about my new life at Lezar Academy.
