Chapter 7

Sabito heaved out a sigh when they finally arrived at the town. Halfway through the run, the box on his back was getting heavy because of Giyuu's weight. He wouldn't have complained if it was a shorter trip, but this was a seven hour trip. Tanjiro had offered to take Giyuu, and Sabito agreed, having been thankful to have the weight lifted off him.

It was dark, so Tanjiro asked for Giyuu to come out. When he did, he gave a hug to Tanjiro and then went over to Sabito to hold his hand. Tanjiro handed over the box to Sabito.

"Since it was a long run here, would anyone like some food?" Tanjiro asked. At the mention of Food, Rengoku immediately perked up. "Oh yes!!" Tanjiro smiled and handed them some yen. "Buy yourselves whatever you liked. While you do that, I'll go and scout around the place. I'll send my crow if something comes up." Muichiro looked at Tanjiro, displeased a bit but sighed.

When Tanjiro left, Muichiro stared at the running figure before sighing. "I'm gonna scout the other direction. You guys can buy something, don't care.. "

Tanjiro ran across the building, glancing left and right for any odd activity. He sighed, noticing nothing out of the ordinary, and decided to quit for the night. But that was when he heard a distance screaming. He skidded to a stop and called for his crow. "Matsuemon." The crow cawed, landing on Tanjiro's arm, tilting his head. "Tell Muichiro, Kyojuro, and Sabito that there's a disturbance North." He scratched the crow's head before sending it off and running towards the screaming.

Once Tanjiro arrived, he unshealthed his nichirn sword, jumping down. A large demon with a stronger scent was here. The demon ate the body of an innocent, and the squelch and crunch were disgusting. The demon paused, turning its head. "Lower 3." Where the kanji's in its eyes. "Hello~ you must be the demon!" Tanjiro turned his eyes to a cage with small children in them, his smile turning into a frown. He got into position. "Hinokami Kagura...Dance." He calmly said. In a flash, he was bringing a downward slash against the demon. Unfortunately for the demon, it couldn't dodge in time and screamed in pain from the burning sensation

Without wasting time, Tanjiro jumped forward and aimed at the demon. "Hinokami Kagura, Setting sun transformation." He flipped into the air as the demon aimed a punch at him with sharp quills producing from its arms. He decapitated the demon and landed on the ground gracefully. The demon crumbled, and his three tsugoku plus the young demon appeared just when it disappeared.

"Ah, there you three are. Can you check if there's anyone else here while I check on the children?" Tanjiro asked, smiling at them. "Yes master!" Kyojuro said proudly, running off to look around.

"Tanjiro-sama... I have something to tell you afterward." Sabito whispered as Muichiro went off with Kyojuro. Tanjiro glanced at him but nodded. He went over to the caged children and broke the lock with the hilt of his sword. He opened the cage and coaxed the children out. The younger of the three hugged his leg tightly.

"Did you know the women?" He asked, hiding the bloody women corpse from view. One of the girls nodded. "That was Akari's mom.." She whispered, pointing at the little girl hugging Tanjiro's leg. "Any father?" The girl nodded. Tanjiro took the girl's hand and the other boys hand as he let the little girl latch onto him. "Sabito-kun?" He turned to Sabito. The boy looked at him, tilting his head. "Tell Muichiro and Kyojuro to meet me at the police station." He told him, taking the kids away from the crime scene. "A-alright!"

Once the children were settled at the police station, Tanjiro waited for his students to arrive. He barely noticed Giyuu appearing next to him. "Oh! Giyuu! Hello!" He smiled at the demon, patting his head. The demon beamed at the elder, immediately melting into the touch. He saw his students appear. "There you guys are." He smiled. Sabito looked at him, though, a question coming out of his mouth.

"Tanjiro-sama...do you know someone named Lady Tamayo?"
