I woke up with a sun shining through a chink in the curtains. I looked around my empty room, no pictures on the walls, just the boring blue paint looking back at me. Boxes were piled in each corner of my ugly little room still waiting to be unpacked.
“why did we have to move here?” i thought to myself while getting out of bed.
I looked towards my bottle green uniform, the thought of not being able to wear my own clothes made my stomach churn.
“British rules suck!” i said to myself as i put on my uniform.
Looking at myself in the mirror i hoped for a miracle and that my uniform would hopefully make me look amazingly different, but no such luck. My own babyish reflection stared back at me. I styled my brown into a plait and let it hang down my shoulder and then proceeded onto doing my makeup. Foundation, eyeliner and mascara. I tilted my head to the side and my scar caught my eye. My eyes filled with tears as memories flooded back to me, i grabbed my bag and rushed out my room hoping not to see my reflection again.
I walked into the kitchen to find Dad in his smart suit drinking coffee, the smell of bacon and egg hit my face.
“
Coffee?” Dad said, holding up his cup to me. I shook my head and proceeded to sit down and make myself a bowl of cereal.
“Quickly eat that up pet, im dropping you off at school in ten minutes” Mum said as she walked in the room.
“
How’s your new book coming along?” I said quickly changing the subject.
“Its going great, hopefully it’s going to be finished in the next two month and i might be able to start the book tour in london! How fantas-“
“So your going to be leaving again?” i grumpily said inturrupting her.
“Don’t start Alice” dad said glaring at me.
“Oh whatever, come on i better go before im late” I said shoving my dish in the sink.
———————————————————————————-
The drive to school was awkward, i felt bad for being mean to mum about her new book. I just hated how she had made us move here for this ‘great experience for her book’ when all she did was go away on book tours and leave us.
“Mum im sorry i was being moody this morning, im sure your books great” i said quietly.
“Its alright hunny, i know you didn’t want to move here but this book could change our lives!” she said putting her hand on my shoulder.
We pulled up outside my school and my heart started thudding. The big grey building reminded me of a mental intistution. I knew i was going to hate it here.
“Want me to come with you hunny?” Mum said weakly
“No, i’ll be fine” I said putting on a fake smile.
I got out the car and watched her drive off waving and smiling, as soon as she was out of vision i dropped my arm and stopped smiling. I walked through the courtyard to see groups of teenagers chatting amoungst themselves and a feeling of loneliness came over me. Suddenly a group of boys walked past me, all cute and cool looking. They all walked past me and ignored me except the tanned and brown eyed boy at the back who gave me a weak smile. I didn’t know who he was but i got butterflys in my stomach all the same.
After ten minutes of trying to find where the main office was i finally located it and was given a timetable. I studied it and realised i had maths first, my worst subject.
“Great Maths first, now where the hell is that?” I said to myself.
“Hey! That’s what i have first” Said a ginger girl in cute pigtails.
I jumped since i thought i was the only one in the hallway.
“haha sorry, you must be the new girl? Alice right?” she said cheerily.
“Ermm yeah.. how do you know my name?” i said curiously.
“Oh Sorry, your names been on the register for the past week or so.. your in all my classes! Im Layla by the way” She said smiling and holding out her hand”.
I shook it and smiled back.
” You don’t talk much do you? Come on i will show you around”.
So as we walked to math she told me about basic stuff, when lunch was, about after school groups
“Do we do music?” i said sounding hopefull
“Erm yeah, every thursday and monday.. why?” she said sounding confused.
“No reason” i said smiling
“Erm.. okay.. haha, well were here” She whispered opening the door.
The whole class turned and looked at us, i noticed the boys from earlier especially the brown eyed boy.
“Sorry were late Sir, i was showing alice around.” Layla blurted out quickly.
“Thats alright layla, now why don’t you take your usual seat and ill find one for Alice” said a neardy looking man.
I scanned the room and noticed two empty seats, one next to the brown eyed boy and the other next to a boy with really curly hair. The curly haired boy didn’t seem to be taking much notice about me but about the two pretty girls in front of him.
“Right i think we will put you next to Zayn” He said pointing over to the brown eyed boy.
My heat thudded as i headed to the seat and noticed as i was walking over he never took his eyes off me. I looked down smiling. I sat down and placed my hands on the desk.
As Mr Adams carried on with class i noticed people turning around and looking at me while whispering. I knew what they were looking at my scar. My eyes filled with tears and i just looked into my lap. I felt a sudden warm feeling on my hand and realised Zayn had put his hand over mine and i was squeezing it, he didn’t say anything he just smiled and stared into my eyes. I loved the feel of his hand on mine.
“Thankyou” I mouthed
We both them realised some classmates were looking at us and he suddenly snatched his hand away pulled a face at me and started pulling faces at a boy with blonde hair.
What was his problem?

The picture at the side is supposed to be when Zayn is holding Alices hand to comfort her:P
