The three girls walk into the courtyard before Y/n speaks up.

"This is the quad. It's where most people go to hangout" Y/n smiles at the goth before her smile falls at her response.

"This is a pentagon"

"The snarky goth girl thing might have worked at your normie school, but things are different here" Enid replies as she wraps an arm around Y/n, pulling her into a hug. Wednesday feels a burning feeling in her stomach at the sight of it.

"The four main cliques at Nevermore are Fangs, Furs, Stoners and Scales. Those are Fangs, AKA vampires. Some of them have literally been here for decades" Enid informs as the three girls continue to walk through the quad.

"Those are Furs, werewolves. Like Enid. Full moons get pretty loud so you should probably grab some noise-cancelling headphones" Y/n speaks as she points to the bunch of werewolves.

"And I'm assuming Scales are sirens?" Wednesday asks as she looks at the sirens sitting by the water fountain.

"You catch on quick. That girl, Bianca Barclay, is the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty. She used to date our tortured artist, Xavier Thorpe. Although, everyone knows he has a big crush on Y/n now" Enid replies as she points to Bianca and Xavier. Y/n blushes at the end of her sentence and looks down, causing Wednesday to glare at the tall boy.

"Fascinating" Wednesday deadpans as she continues glaring.

"Enid's blog is the number one source for Nevermore gossip" Their conversation is cut short when a boy walks up to them.

"Yo, Enid! You'll never believe the dirt I heard about your new roommate. She eats human flesh! She totally chowed down on that kid she murdered" Ajax says before Enid moves to the side to reveal Wednesday.

"Quite the contrary. I actually fillet the bodies of my victims, then feed them to my pets" Y/n giggles at the goths words before Ajax speaks up again.

"You're in black and white. Like a living instagram filter" He says looking between the three girls in shock.

"Ignore him. Gorgons spend way too much time getting stoned. I dunno why Enid's in love with him" Y/n cuts him off as Enid pushes the boy away.

"I am not! Moving topics, it's a small school. There wasn't much online about you. You should totally get on Insta, Snapchat and TikTok"

"I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation" Wednesday replies before walking away from the two girls only for them to follow her.

Wednesday walks towards her family as they wait by the car, leaving Y/n standing by the schools entrance.

"Look at you, my little death trap. Seeing you in the uniform brings back so many memories" Gomez says excitedly as he runs forward to envelope her in a hug.

"Boys, please wait in the car. Wednesday and I need a moment" Morticia says as they boys sit in the car.

"Any plans you have of running away end now. I've alerted all family members to contact me the minute you darken their doorstep. There's nowhere for you to go. I don't know why you would want to. It seems you've already made a friend" Morticia glances to the girl standing by the entrance with patience.

"You continue to underestimate me, mother. And      Y/n isn't a friend. She's a troubling acquaintance that causes me some sort of sickness" Wednesday replies as she turns to look at the girl. Her mother sighs before speaking again.

"You're a brilliant girl, Wednesday, but sometimes you get in your own way. I'm sure you'll grow to love Nevermore, and find it as life-changing as I did. I got you a little something" Morticia hands Wednesday a pendant with a W and an M on it.

"Our initials. It's made of obsidian which Aztec priests used to conjure visions. It's a symbol of our connection"

"Which one of your spirits suggested this toe-curling tchotchke?" Wednesday makes a disgusted face.

"I'm not you, mother. I will never fall in love, or be a housewife, or have a family"

"I'm told girls your age say hurtful things. Besides, I'm sure someone will change your mind" her mother says as she glances at the principals daughter again.

"Lurch, the crystal ball please" Morticia calls to their butler as he brings her a crystal ball.

"We can't talk to you for the first week so we'll call you next Sunday" Morticia hovers her hand over Wednesday's shoulder before stepping into the car, watching as Wednesday walks towards Y/n.

"What the hell did you do to my room?" Enid asks as she storms into the dorm with Y/n following behind her.

"Divided our room equally. It looks like a rainbow vomited on your side" Wednesday replies as she finishes peeling the coloured plastic off the window.

"Silence would be appreciated. This is my writing time" Wednesday interrupts as Y/n begins to speak.

"Your what?" Y/n asks confused causing Wednesday to sigh and turn towards her.

"I devote an hour a day to my novel. Perhaps if Enid did the same, her vlog might be coherent. By the way, there are two d's in Addams. If you're going to gossip about me, at least spell my name correctly" Wednesday turns back towards her typewriter.

"Hey! I write in my voice. It's what my followers love" Enid replies insulted.

"You're followers are clearly imbeciles. They respond to your stories with insipid little pictures" Wednesday stands and walks towards the two girls.

"You mean emojis? It's how people express their feelings. I realise that's a foreign concept to you"

"When I look at you, the following emojis come to mind. Rope, shovel, hole"

"Guys, maybe you should calm down" Y/n tells the other girls nervously. Wednesday turns around and begins to walk towards her typewriter only to turn back around when she hears loud pop music.

"Turn that off" Wednesday demands as she goes to turn the speaker off. Enid growls as she brings her claws out.

"Don't mess with me. This kitty's got claws and I'm not afraid to use them"

"Guys, stop!" Y/n yells as a woman walks in.

"Good evening, girls. Sorry about the mud. I wanted to make sure Wednesday was settling in. Is this a bad time?" The woman asks only for no one to reply.

"I'm Ms. Thornhill, your dorm mom. Wednesday, I trust Y/n and Enid have given you the old Nevermore welcome"

"They've been smothering me with hospitality. I plan to return the favour in their sleep" Wednesday replies as the three turn to look at her with concerned expressions.

"Well, here's a little welcome gift from my conservatory. I try I match the right flower to each of my girls and when I read your personal statement in your application, I immediately thought of this one"

"The black dahlia. It's named after my favourite unsolved murder. Thank you" Wednesday replies as Y/n smiles softly at the girl.

"Before I leave, I want to go over a few house rules. Lights off at 10:00, no loud music, and definitely no..  sex" Ms. Thornhill states as she awkwardly looks between the three girls.

"What's the story about going into the local town" Wednesday asks as she ignores the womans statement and her thoughts about the girl next to her.

"Passes to Jericho are a privilege, not a right. It's a 25 minute walk, or there's a shuttle on the weekends. The locals are a bit wary about Nevermore, so please don't go making issues for us. That means keep your claws to yourself and no smothering people. Are we clear?" The girls stay silent until Ms. Thornhill speaks again.

"Great talk" As soon as the woman leaves the room, Wednesday and Enid glare at each other as Y/n looks towards them uncomfortable.
