Fubuki's POV:
I glanced into a room to see Shu standing there, his hand around Spryzen. He was dressed in his Red Eye clothes, and I couldn't help but feel hesitant to go in. Something felt off about him, other than the obvious, and it was terrifying. I heard footsteps and looked behind me to see Valt walking towards the room, a serious look on his face. It must be bad if he wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. He walked into the room, and I went to pull him away, afraid of what Shu's reaction would be when Valt gave me a reassuring smile. He was the wonder boy. Everything would be fine. If he can't fix it then we're screwed.
"What are you doing, Shu? Aren't you tired?" Valt asked, a kind look on his face. He had always been a peaceful person, which was probably the reason why he was so smiley. He was the calm in the storm.
"What are you doing here? I don't think that you were invited." Shu's tone was harsh as he turned to Valt, an irritated look on his face. He knew that Valt could ruin any plans he had, and he wasn't prepared to make that risk. He wanted to push Valt as far away as possible as quickly as he could. Valt was a threat. He always had been. "Here you go again, pretending that you love me when just beneath the surface you're convinced that you're above me."
There was a surprised look on Valt's face, and I was equally surprised that he thought that way. It was Valt. He cared about everyone, no matter who they are or what they had done. It was a gift he had, honestly. He was our wonder boy, and our very hope. Valt gave him a small, pained smile. He was trying to get through to Shu, still.
"Dig deep into the past, I've never been one for doing things half-assed. If I'm here to save you, I'll be here forever. Just take my hand, I'll be your night in shining armour." It sounded like a promise, almost, as he extended his hand for Shu to take.
Shu stared at Valt's hand and then laughed, as if amused by the situation for whatever reason. "You think you're a hero...? And they'll tell you, you are. So strong and happy, and you've come so far."
Valt looked heartbroken, his emotions getting the best of him, but despite that, he still smiled. This is why he was stronger than the rest of us. "You think you're a villain. But I know you're not. Under all that angst and anger is a-"
"-dying broken heart."
"-beating human heart."
They were talking in sync, almost as if Shu had tried to cut him off, but something felt off. Shu had anger in his eyes as he confronted Valt. "Hey, what about the lonely little boy?"
"I'M SORRY!"
"What about his monsters who prevailed?!" There were tears in Shu's eyes
"I'M SORRY!"
"You never came to save my world." He was suffering more than he ever had, and we had all failed to stop it. He never asked for this.
"What about us?" Valt tried to reason with him, holding back tears of his own, but it wasn't working.
"What about me?" Shu's hand was a ghostly white from gripping Spryzen so tight, and what looked like blood was seeping out of it.
"I recognise that you're upset. I know they did you wrong." He was trying a different approach, and I was surprised at how well he was handling the situation. Valt's not one to think things through, and I thought he was only useful in the stadium.
"Oh, you know nothing of me." There was pure haterid in Shu's eyes as he wiped his tears away.
"But trust me, please believe me, this won't stop the hurt for long." Valt disregarded the last statement and continued trying to convince him, but it didn't seem to be working whatsoever. I didn't think Shu was this stubborn. Maybe it was something he had picked up from being friend's with Valt. "We don't need to end like this! Look me in the eyes."
Shu rolled his eyes, almost like he was half-expecting this kind of reaction. "Here comes the hero complex."
"You call yourself a villain-"
"I know I'm the villain-"
"-but we know it's a disguise."
"-but you're the one who lies." Shu's eyes were cold as they surveyed Valt, who was practically shaking at this stage. It was starting to get too him. But, Shu continued with his barrage of assault against the one person who wanted to help him the most. "So, you're back at it again. Twisting and manipulating every word I've said."
Valt sighed, trying to reach out to Shu. "Come on, you know that's not true. I'm just trying to help you. Let me help you!"
"YOU ARE NOT MY HERO!!" He took a moment before continuing. It was affecting him more than he cared to let on. "You don't know how it felt. What else could you do with the cards that I've been dealt?"
"You are not the villain. You once held my hand..." Valt's bottom lip quivered, and you could tell that he was at his breaking point. He had always been sensitive to the pain of others, and I imagine it would hurt him so much more when his best friend is suffering.
"Shut up. Get out. Sometimes things don't go as planned." His eyes had turned dark as he turned away and Valt walked out of the room, glancing at me as he did so. His usual friendly face replaced with a stoic frown. He's not one to stop persisting, even when the battle is basically lost. So it must be terrible.
I looked over at Shu, who had put Spryzen down and was just staring a his bleeding hand. I don't know what caused this change in him, I just know that it came unexpectedly. He was good at hiding what he thought and felt, In a way, it was admirable being able to conceal himself like that, but it was also terrifying. I don't want to lose my teacher not like this.
"Fubuki." I looked up when I heard my name to see Shu's cold stare on me, and all I could do was shudder. What happened to him? "Leave. Now."
And with that, I left with my tail between my legs, my fear rising. I didn't want to have to face that. That look he gave me was terrifying. I stopped outside the Raging Bulls, and I have only just realised that I was shaking. I took a deep breath as I tried to calm myself down, closing my eyes to concentrate. I suddenly felt a presence next to me and turned to see Aiger standing there, a concerned look on his face.
"Are you alright, Fubuki? You look stressed." His eyes skimmed over me and I turned away. I'm not ready to deal with him right now.
"I'm fine. I've just had a long day." I gave a vague explanation, prepared to walk away. I don't what to do or think about the situation at hand.
"What happened? Cause Valt looked even worse than you do, and you're half as smiley as he is. Did something happen between you or something?" He was strangely close for someone who was just aimlessly guessing.
I sighed, deciding to tell him. Even Aiger can be useful at times, I guess. "About that..."
