Chapter Four

Just keep dancing. Mickey was currently at the Falls at the party. Being the brother of popular girl, Caroline; he is kind of expected to be at these sort of things. He was currently wearing his light brown furry jacket. He was staying away from liquids. Afraid that someone might stain his jacket. He freezes. A cold chill down his spine. Magic. He had sensed someone use a sliver of magic. Bonnie. The only reasonable explanation. She had unconsciously tapped into magic.

"Way to go, Bonnie." Mickey praises her. Smirking. Someone walks up to him and hands him a drink. "Oh no. I don't drink."

"Relax a little, dude." Mickey shrugs. It couldn't affect him in any way. He sips some of the alcohol and makes a face.

"It tastes like horse piss." The dude chuckles and Mickey smiles. The guy gently grabs Mickey's free hand and dances with him. They both decide to have some fun, with Mickey even letting loose. Wrong move on his part. The voices seep in. They start whispering. Then they get louder. They become screams. Mickey stumbles back from the unexpected screams. He shakes his head, hoping to rid his head of the voices. No luck. He drops the cup and walks away deeper into the woods. He digs his fingers into his hair and grips his head. He sighs as the voices become distance. They remain but they're not screaming at him. He notices fog forming on the ground, creeping towards him. He turns around. Sensing another presence nearby. "Show yourself." A raven haired male steps out of the fog, and into the little clearing with Mickey. Vampire. He can sense it but plays clueless. "Who are you?"

"I'm Damon." He smirks. "You're one of the little kiddies that my little brother befriended." Damon hums interested in the smaller male before him.

"I wouldn't say befriend but whatever." Mickey shrugs. He needed this distraction. The whispers are gone and Mickey stands in silence with Damon. "Why are you standing in the forest?"

"Chaperone from afar." Damon smirks. "You smell different." Damon slips out.

"Pardon."

"I mean you don't reek of alcohol like the others." Damon quickly saves himself. Mickey hums, apparently he smelt different to vampires. That's something to add on the list of weird. A twig snaps. Mickey spins around to the sound and finds Jeremy walking into the forest, with Elena hot on his trail. He turns back to Damon, whose gone. Elena released a quiet scream as they stumble upon a body. Mickey walks over. The body happens to belong to Vicki Donovan.

"Looking at her isn't going to get her help." Mickey speaks up, startling the siblings. Jeremy lifts Vicki into his hands, bridal style and he and Elena rush back to the party, with Elena screaming for help.

"Vicki?" Matt questions. He looks over and realizes it is her. "Vicki? What the hell?" Matt rushes over. Tyler also runs over.

"What happened?" Tyler inquires.

"Somebody call and ambulance!" Matt demands.

"Everybody back up. Give her some space." Tyler turns around and pushes people away from Vicki. Mickey walks away. Going to find Caroline and head home.

"Somebody bit her. She's losing blood, fast!" Mickey hears Elena state. He hums, intriqued as he walks away. Stefan? No, he was with Elena. Damon. Most likely. He smirks as he moves away from the crowd. Looks like coming back was a good idea after all.

Home. That was where Mickey was expecting to go. However, Caroline had another idea in mind. She stopped at the Grill, to vent to Mickey and Bonnie. She sighs and runs her hand through her hair. Mickey doesn't need his powers to know Caroline is sad and heartbroken. The source of her problem; Stefan Salvatore. Mickey is seated beside Bonnie, the two sitting in front of Caroline.

"Are you sober yet?" Bonnie asks Caroline. Caroline groans and sits up.

"No." She lets out a defeated sigh. She pushes her hair back.

"Keep drinking." Bonnie tells her, referring to the coffee in front of Caroline. "I gotta get you home. I gotta get Mickey home. I gotta get me home." Caroline looks up.

"Why didn't he go for me?" Bonnie gives her a look. Caroline groans. "How come the guys that I want, never want me?"

"Because they're blind idiots. Who don't deserve someone look you, Care." Mickey is quick to comfort his sister.

"I'm not touching that." Bonnie comments, referring to the current subject of their conversation.

"I'm inappropiate." Caroline sighs. "I always say the wrong things." She slight shakes her head and she stares to the side. "And...Elena always says the right things." She rests her chin on her hands and shakes her head. Caroline scoffs in disbelief. "She doesn't even try, and he just picks her. And she's always the one that everyone picks. For everything!" Caroline shakes her head with a sad smile. "And I try so hard, and...I'm never the one." Mickey shakes his head.

"I'd pick you. Even if I had to choose between saving the whole world or you, I'd pick you. You're smart, witty and the best big sister. So, I don't ever want to hear you speak bad about yourself." Mickey reaches across the table and gently grasps Caroline hands. She smiles.

"Besides, it's not a competition, Caroline." Bonnie adds, shaking her head slightly. Mickey nods, and Caroline smiles.

"You guys are the best. I'm sober enough let's go home." Bonnie smiles.

"Come on. Let's go to the bathroom. You need to freshen up." They both leave the table. Leaving Mickey alone. He sighs and rests his head on the table.

"You look like you need company." A familiar voice says from behind Mickey. He turns around to see Damon. Mickey gives him a look.

"What are you doing here?" Damon shrugs.

"Needed some fresh air." Mickey scoffs, but smiles. Caroline and Bonnie walk out of the bathroom, and over to Mickey. Caroline notices Damon and Mickey smiling at eachother and nudges Bonnie. Bonnie looks over and smiles.

"Come on let's go." Caroline tells Mickey. He stands up and stretches. They leave the Grill with Mickey waving goodbye to Damon.
