Lilliana's POV
The ride to Ellington Prep was as crazy as usual.
Allison, the self proclaimed 'queen bee', was buzzing up and down the walk way, telling everyone how Dylan Hannah and Sarah Macy were finally an item. Apparently no one knew that the sweet cheerleader and the amazing football player were going to fall in love. She kept going on and on about how no one saw it coming and how they should be nominated for the Snow-Ball next week as king and queen.
This caught my attention. I know I would never win but I wanted to be nominated for queen. I think every girl has thought about it at least once. Unfortunately you have to be one or both of two things: rich and or popular. Even though I was rich I didnt really like to go around bragging about it. And popular? Ha That was too funny to even think about.
The bus driver sped up over a speed bus making all of us bounce hard against our seats. Groans of dramatic girls and stuck up guys rang throughout the bus to which the driver just simply turned up the music and threw a careless "sorry" over her shoulder.
Not surprisingly, Allison still managed to make her way up and down with crazy speed as if the bump didn't even happen and she wasn't in nude wedges. The only thing moving faster than her mouth was her sunny blond hair as she whipped her head back and forth between the two groups of people she was talking to.
A light nudge to my shoulder brought me back to my best friend. She had one eye brow raised and looked me right in the eye.
"If you keep staring at her, I'm going to start thinking that you mistook her worthless ass soul for someone worth listening too." A sly grin slipped onto her face.
A moment of silence passed before we both erupted into a fit of giggles. I spoke in a horrible attemp at a brittish accent.
"Of course not darling, she's not as posh as us!"
Her giggles slowed before mine as she glance over my shoulder. She immediately tense, started blushing and turned away from me while having a small smile on her face. I rolled my eyes at her. I didnt need to look over my should to know that Kyle Farlow was sitting in the seat across from us. He was a strawberry blonde with a well defined body because of his football player build, a sweet attitude, beautiful brown eyes and a nice face. He came across as friendly but walking behind his 6'2 form was intimidating for Magret's 5'6.
I can't believe she made fun of me for my lack of knowledge in the boy department but at least I could hold in my emotions better. Everytime Kyle came around her, the 'love struck puppy' face would make an appearance.
Familiar blue and gold letters on our school sign read outside the bus window read
'Ellington Prep Academy
Creating better students so we all can have a better future''Uhhuh yeah sure' I thought
The bus came to a stop in front of the school's north gate where the guards were holding the hand held scanners. As we all filed off of the bus we made a single file line to be scanned in so we could go to class. Kyle let Margret go first to be gentlemen like resulting in LSP face to make another appearance.
I chuckled at her high school romantics and continued in line with my back pack in hand. I couldnt help but notice how freezing it was starting to get. I wish they would scan us inside but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the gate since no unidentified person is allowed inside.
To keep my identity safe, my last name was changed to Pierce instead of Washington. No one except the billion dollar families are allowed to have a presidential last name so if I kept mine it would raise suspicions. Besides my family doesnt even visit me because of the rules they broke, I don't want to give them a reason to hate me too.
Margret quickly swiped her bracelet under the first guard's scanner. It rang out "MARGRET ANDREWS", not extremely loud but loud enough for myself to hear and I was two back from her. Once she was allowed through I was happy to see her step aside from the group of students walking inside to wait for me. I smiled at her as Kyle swiped his bracelet.
"KYLE FARLOW"As the guard nodded to him, allowing him through, I carelessly hand out my wrist where my bracelet was dangling. I was too busy watching how Kyle stopped to wait with her too. I smiled at her as he smiled at whatever she was saying. He seemed to like her.
"LILLIANNA WASHINGTON"
My head snapped to the machine so fast I could've sworn that I broke a few vertebrae.
Holy shit
Apparently everyone within hearing range went silent which created a domino effect until everyone was quietly staring at me.
The guard made it even worse by scanning me again."LILLIANNA WASHINGTON"
Well if the entire student body didn't hear it the first time they definately heard it now. Whispers erupted from all eight lines of needing to be scanned in kids.
Luckily my best friend ran over to my rescue.
"Mike you know us. Can we go up to the principles office to sort this out with her the name was probably switched with another in attendance or something."
He looked torn to let someone in without properly identifying them first. I was hoping that he knew me well enough to let me in but he didn't have to. Our principles voice rang out over the intercom.
"Lilliana Pierce and Margret Farlow please report to attendance immediately."
That was all everyone else needed to move on from the previous mix up of last names.
Mike stepped aside and I let Margret pull me toward the main office building. When I finally zoned back in I felt the need to turn my head and honestly I wish I hadn't. I saw a sleek black limo parked on the east side parking lot. But that wasn't it, what really caught my attention was the presidential sticker on the top of the limo.
The last time I saw a limo like that I was crying my eyes out as I made my way to live my new life in sunny Arizona, nine years ago.
