So a crying mother, a solemn father and a speechless girl walk into a bar....

Yeah right, I wish my life was a joke...

oh wait, it is

After my father got my mother to slow her tears, we all agreed that it would probably be better to continue the conversation at home considering the nosey people who were very interested to see why any student of theirs would be of concern to a presidential. Needless to say the ride back to the house was anything but relaxed. I could feel my parents' glances toward me but to no avail. I refused to look at them. Just moments ago they were a fragment of my imagination. Yes, they are real living human beings but in my world they didn't exist.

Well until now of course

The hardest part of this whole thing was the fact that Margret was told to go back to class. She looked pained to let my hand go but after throwing a glare over her shoulder toward my parents she stormed out of the room. When she gets home I'm going to need to ask her about it later. I can only imagine the looks and questions she must be getting because she was walking with an undercover "Washington." My attention was pulled from the window to notice the immense amount of security in the limo with us. 12 guys minimum. Even with it being a stretched limo I still felt like I needed to roll down a window to breathe. My mother must have felt my discomfort because in the kind voice I remembered her having she reached over and touched one of the body guards on the shoulder.

Almost silently she asked "Can you please lower one of those windows for my daughter?"

She said my daughter

A surge of anger I did not know I was holding came over me and I snapped.

"YOUR DAUGHTER? I'm hardly your daughter! If anything I'm an orphan! You left me in a strange state with people completely foreign to me and never once called to check on me or even confirm the fact that I was still alive! If I am that forgettable you should've closed your legs in the first place so I wouldn't have to deal with your mistake myself!"

My face felt hot. I knew after a certain point I needed to calm down but I couldn't stop. All the anger that had piled up over the years was released and I couldn't do anything about it. I squeezed my fists and kept my head hanging low. Birthdays, holidays, simple soccer practices. They missed all of them without ever blinking an eye. I was sick of it all but most importantly, I was sick of them.

Before she could respond, I realized that the limo had come to a stop.

Well I mean I didn't live that far away. I just rode the bus for convenience sake.

Without batting another eye I scooted toward the door, opened it and stomped my way straight for the front door. Bernard must have heard the car pull up because he had open the front doors for me even before I had been within 5 feet of him. It seemed like he was going to stop me on account of my facial features being a skew but he didn't. What he did do shocked me even more. Stopped me right in my tracks even.

"We've been expecting you Mr. & Mrs. Washington" He bowed at the hip slightly.

Right in that moment, if glares could kill Bernard would certainly be six feet under.

"It's good to be back Bernard. Let's take these matters inside, I have much to speak to you about." My father said pat Bernard on the back as he got closer.

You really do

Sitting on the recliner I was silent waiting for Charles or Melissa to talk. Apparently Charles was going to be the one to speak first.

"As you all already know Stephanie has been pronounced dead and the sum of the Washington's family money already has bidders to see who will take the spot in the Presidentials since we claimed to one have one heir. We cannot have this happen. Countless charities and organizations count on us to provide them with their monthly check and if another family comes in, the funds could be used for the wrong reasons."

He looked to me. I gulped. I didn't like that look one bit.

"This is where you come in Lilli. We need you to-"

"Don't call me that" I wouldn't even look at them. That nickname was from the loving parents I remembered and it will not be ruined by these people who need me just to keep their spot in the clubhouse.

He continued "Lilliana. We need you to come and finish your schooling at the academy that Stephanie went to. There they teach you everything you need to know. They make sure you are brought up right and can handle the life style that will become your world. The way you eat, sleep, even breathe will be molded and perfected to the standards of the Presidentials.

My instant reaction was to say no. I promise you it was but as I thought about the men, wome, and children that were going to be affected by the possibility of new rulers I couldn't help it. It also didn't help that because of this "little" incident no one was going to leave me alone until I gave answers. So I did what any person with a heart would do, I caved.

"Fine just let me pack a few things, I'll go"

Somehow with just those few words I knew my life was going to change but would I ever get back was the question.
