A soft smile played across his lips, eyes focusing on bright cheeks and shining brown eyes — eyes easy to drown in. He had been doing that since they had first met, back when she had transferred here during their 5th year from Ilvermorny.

"Whipped." The voice snapped him out of his reverie.

He turned to see Sirius's teasing smirk. James snorted, "Could the same to you."

He grinned at the blush that creeped up Sirius's cheeks— it had been recently, that Sirius and Remus had gone public with their relationship. Both of them in their last year of school while James, Rin, Peter and Lily were still in sixth along with Sirius's younger brother, Regulus.

"Oi Sato!" he called out, leaning forwards with a large grin on his face, "How's your morning been."

She mirrored him, smiling playfully, "Been good Potter. How about yours."

He tilted his head, hair flopping into his face, "Better now that I'm talking to you."

Rin groaned, though her smile grew wider, "That was soooo cheesy."

James laughed, admiring the curve of her jaw, "Mhm...Super cheesy."

"Really mate," Remus groaned, casting them an annoyed look, "In front of my coffee?"

Sirius grinned salaciously at him, "Why? D'you want me to flirt with you too?"

"Oh please don't start," A sleepy Lily plopped down next to Rin, newly dyed red hair sticking up all over, "I hear enough of it with these two. Don't you dare."

"You're telling me," Peter scoffed from next to Remus, inspecting a sweet, "Oh Sirius. Oh Remus. Oh Sirius....and so on." Peter sent her look filled with warning, "It never ends."

"Stop that!" Remus hissed, his entire face red. "Ow!" Peter exclaimed, rubbing his head that Sirius had hit.

They were unaware of the cold grey eyes that watched them, unaware of the longing hidden deep within his eyes. The longing to be free was a cage he would never have the key to. Where their table was filled with loud conversations and laughter echoing through the hall, his remained silent. His fellow housemates whispered quietly, sneering at the rest of the students' behavior.

He wondered the same thing: How could she be so happy? How could she just sit there and smile and laugh as if it did nothing, as if there were no consequences. How was he supposed to enjoy his breakfast in peace when all he could see was her smile. Not towards him of course — never at him.

That wasn't to say she hadn't tried. When they had first been partnered up in potions, she had  smiled at him but it had only made him scowl harder. He was sure it had been anger that had made his heart beat faster, there was no other explanation. They were here to learn not to make friends.

One minute, he was scowling down at his coffee; the next, he was face down on the hard ground, which seemed to be spinning. He only lifted his head when he heard several more groans of pain.

Anger filled him when he saw Sirius standing there next to Golden child James Potter. He had warned them, Sirius had even assured him that he would not rope Regulus into hs stupid pranks. Another promise broken shattered at his feet.

Rin groaned when James peeled her off the ground. She stumbled to a stand next to him, looking around in confusion. They were in a movie theater, but instead of rows of seats, there were 2 large sofas and a single cushioned chair.

"What have you done?" an accusatory hiss broke the tension. They turned to see the Black brothers, standing toe-to-toe in a heated exchange.

"Believe me, Reggie," Sirius spat, "if it were up to me, I wouldn't even be in the same room as you."
