beginning

Ella is sitting on the couch watching the news. the reporter is talking about the cannibals and how the sickness is getting worse.

"You shouldn't be watching that," her dad says to her.

"Why?" She looks back at him.

"It'll give you nightmares." Her dad answers.

"It's reality though" She looks away from her dad.

"Doesn't matter," Her dad says annoyed. She doesn't want to get yelled at so she turns it off. Her ma never liked her watching the news either.

Then there's a loud bang at the door. Ella shoots up from her spot. Her eyes wide, no one usually comes to their house. She had a bad feeling about it. Her dad opens the door multiple cannibals jump at him. Ella gets scared but she doesn't scream, she watches in shock.

They start biting at her dad. She runs upstairs to where her siblings are. "Everyone!" She yells

Her siblings hearing all the commotion run downstairs, the eldest Sebastian fought off the sick people with Autumn while the other siblings cried in a corner.

"Start packing guys" Sebastian orders.

"Are we leaving?" Elizabeth asks quietly.

"Yeah," Sebastian answers.

"Were leaving Dad?" Ella asks though it was more of a rhetorical question because she knew the answer.

"Yeah it's no big deal anyway" Sebastian shrugs.

"We can't just leave him.." Ella shakes her head.

"Why do you care so much? You were his least favorite,  you know how he felt about you, he didn't give a shit about yo, no reason to care for him" Sebastian says sternly. Ella knows he's right but it doesn't mean that it didn't hurt thinking about.

"Whatever" Ella rolls her eyes and walks upstairs to her room. She pulls a shirt out of her dresser it's a Radiohead shirt she never listened to Radiohead not much at least. She pulled out another shirt it was orange with a soccer ball in the middle she stole it from Sebastian.

She pulls out black shorts to go with her black Radiohead tee and a pair of leggings since she doesn't like the texture of jeans they are too itchy and make her cry. The Radiohead shirt is pretty baggy on her so her shorts are almost hidden, she puts on black socks next.

She grabs a pocket knife that she stole from her dads room a while ago. She had cut herself with it one time but never did it again. She holds the knife in her hand it reminds her of her dad which she isn't sure if that's something she wants to be reminded of.

Autumn comes into the room "We're about to head out, you finished yet?" she asks.

"Yeah almost." Ella nods.

Ella's bag is filled with clothes and two Teddy bears ones a red panda and the other is a regular panda, once downstairs she notices that her dad isn't in the same spot anymore, weird, she thinks. She looks around and doesn't see any of her siblings.

"Guys?" she calls out scanning the room. She starts to hear groaning.

She feels something grab onto her so she quickly turns around and is met with her father's face but he died, her dad knocks her to the floor.

"Dad no!" She shouts trying to push her father off of her.

Her dad's jaw snaps at her. He's trying to bite her but She's pushing him away though it's not very effective because he's a grown man and she only just turned twelve like two days ago.

"Daddy it's me!" She cries desperately trying to get her dad off of her.

"It's me Ella!" she says hitting him. By now she started crying, she's scared her dad's gonna kill her.

she grabs her knife and wants to stab him but she can't find the courage to do so.

"Dad please stop it!" she looks at him.

Autumn who was still upstairs comes rushing down and stabs their dad in the head. Blood splatters onto Ella's face. He drops dead beside her. She starts to sob as she sits on the cold hard wooden floor. She brings her knees up to her chest and hugs them while hiding her face in her knees as she cries.

she looks back at her dad's lifeless body.

Ella puts on her pink and tan cow-girl boots her mom got her in the summer they are a bit big but she doesn't care. Autumn and Ella walk out of the house. The rest of her siblings were waiting outside.

"Took you long enough" Sebastian scoffs.

"Dad came back to life and tried to eat Ella so," Autumn says sassily pushing past Sebastian.

"Wait what do you mean? How?" Sebastian questions.

"Don't know but I don't think those things are just sick people." Autumn shrugs.

"How is that possible?" Sebastian looks confused.

"Look I don't know I'm just as confused as you are." Autumn scoffs.

They walk having no idea where they're walking to since they are rarely ever allowed outside. They walk trying to get away from that house it feels good walking away from that house of so many bad memories hell they can't remember the last time they were happy in that house.
