As soon as I opened my door last night, Lottie attacked me with questions.

"Someone's home late... How was your date?" She asked.

"There was no date," I said.

"What do you mean?" She pushed.

"I'm not really in the mood, Lottie," I said.

     "What happened?" She asked concerned.

"He stood me up, okay?" I said defensively.

"Oh no!" She said. She rushed over and hugged me, and I just kind of loosely hugged back.

"Lottie, I'm okay," I said. I hate it when people feel bad for me or treat me like a child that can't cope with her own problems. Pity can drive me away faster than anything.

"I'm so sorry! I knew Jack couldn't be trusted!" She said still squeezing me tight.

     "I'm fine," I said again.

"Hold on, how did you get home if he didn't show up?" She asked.

     "I walked," I told her.

"Oh my god why didn't you just call me, you know I'd pick you up!"

"My phone is dead," I said. "And I even tried a payphone but it was broken."

"I'm so sorry," she kept apologizing.

"It's cool, Lottie," I tried to reassure her. "Something else did happen tonight though..."

"A knight in shining armor came and swept you off of your feet," she asked squealing and looking at the flannel and shoes that absolutely ruined my outfit. I looked like Ronald McDonald in my bright red strapless dress and yellow flannel. Not to mention the white sneakers that replaced my black heels.

"No, I wish," I said. Then I explained everything with Ed.

"You saved a man?" She almost yelled.

"Um... yeah," I said. I knew that's what happened, but it didn't sound right to me.

     I saved a man.

"Dahli, that's amazing! Did he thank you?" She questioned.

"Yes actually, he hugged me and said 'thank you for everything'."

"Wow..." She said in awe. "Well tonight has been eventful for you, why don't you get some sleep? You look tired."

"I will gladly go to sleep," I said.

And I did. But my dream was odd last night. Ed was in it-- or at least I think that's who that figure was. He was on the bridge, about to jump, just like last night. But something was different... The man actually jumped before I could get to him. I jumped in after him, but I woke up before I could reach the water.

"Dahli!" Lottie jars me out of my thoughts.

"What?" I call from in the bathroom. I'm drying my golden brown (close to blonde) hair from the shower.

"Hurry up, I have to pee!" She says.

"Ugh, fine," I say unplugging the dryer and walking out in my towel.

She thanks me, and runs into the bathroom. I go to my room and finish drying my long hair and brush it up into the messiest bun I can create. I don't plan on going anywhere today. After last night, I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to sit on the couch with Lottie, eat junk food, and binge watch Netflix.
