I thought it was over, I really did. But, how many times can you tell someone you are friends with a talking rabbit and that you fought a crazy schyco of a queen whose head is the size of a watermelon and every time she gets angry, its off with their heads here and off with their heads there, with out someone calling you crazy and locking you up.
I mean, yes, it is crazy. At least that's what I thought at first, but hey, no one locked up the person who said the earth was flat. Hell, they still don't. Why, because he is a man and I'm not?
I can't say here. If no one is going to believe me, then I might as well live in a place where we've all lost our minds. Since that's what I'm considered here. The girl who lost her mind....
I'm locked up in a mental hospital. Again.... The room is different from before. Instead of white walls and a bed in the corner, I get a completely dark room with only a chair. These people are crazier than me, honestly. But thanks to that, they forgot to check my hair.
I'm surprised they haven't changed the locks here. I mean, last time I got out, I used a hair pin. That was before the head of the hospital killed himself by trying to erase the fact that he had seen a rabbit running around with a clock. Refusing to believe the unexplainable always leads to something worse than trying to explain it. But, what do I know. I am "crazy."
I'm not.
I'm not crazy.
Well.....
All the best people are so.... I guess I am.
After trying the lock a few times, I finally heard a click. It was lauder than I expected. I guess it's a good thing I waited until the guard was asleep. I get up slowly, and walk over to the guard. I can't see his keys anywhere.
"Shit..."
I look over to the desk and I notice there's a small red chain.
"Bingo."
I grab the keys and slowly make my way to the exit. I see a light turn on right as I am about to open the door. I hear a familiar voice yell.
"Crap I need to get of here"
I run out the door as fast as I can. I can hear someone slamming the door open again and yelling my name. I hear him say something else, but I couldn't quite understand what it was since the sound of the rain and my footsteps were louder the faster I ran.
Once I got far away enough from the hospital, I ran towards the woods just in case they were still following me. I noticed a large log next to a rock that kind of looked like a face. It looked big enough for me to fit inside it, so I decided it was best to wait till morning. I didn't want to get caught before making it to...... now that I think of it, I have no idea how to go back. After the issue with time, I wasn't able to find a way back. All entrances were closed.
I decided to get some sleep since I tried to escape last minute, and I hadn't been able to sleep all night before escaping. I figured making a plan in the morning once I was well rested was a better idea since I could barely keep my eyes open, and all the running made my legs weak. I started to think about the rabbit, the queen, the twins, the mad hatter.
Oh, the mad hatter, how I missed him.
Soon enough, I drifted into a deep sleep. And a familiar yet not welcomed dream came.
It's always been the same one for the past year. I'm running with the rabbit trying to catch him. The first time I went to Wonderland. I remember it so clearly, at least I think I do, but this dream is different.
After finding my way to the field of dancing and singing flowers, I heard crying. I walk towards the sound, and the closer I get, the more I can make out a voice. It sounded sad and angry. Near a beautifull rainbow colored tree there is a little boy. He looked to be my age at the time.
I walked towards him and noticed he was talking to a small bird. A beautiful red and blue bird. It looked like a robin but wonderland has so many wonderfull animals I wasn't sure if it was. Just as I am about to reach out to the boy, the bird turns towards me and turns into a creature that looks almost like a dragon. It reminded me of the jabberwocky but smaller. It's wings were so bright they looked like they were made of fire and it's body was a dark grayish color. It had one bright blue eye while the other was a dark bloody red.
I though it was scary but the curiosity in me tried to reach out to it after regaining my balance. The dragon turned back into the bird almost as if it trusted me. It looked at me with wondering eyes. I smile at it and it leaped onto my shoulder and started to play with my hair. I continue to laugh.
"Who are you....."
I hear the boy ask so quietly I could barely hear him. I noticed his eyes are a deep shade of purple. So beautifully dark that they made his red hair disappear in my eyes. I was lost in his eyes but....they were covered by a fog of tears. Once again, I heard him ask who I was.
"Alice... My name is Alice. Why are you crying?"
He turned away and wiped his eyes. Looking at me with anger this time, he called the bird but the bird continued to play with my hair. He yelled out the bird's name again and this time, the bird stopped and looked at him intently, finally flying towards him.
The boy turned around and started climbing the rainbow colored tree. Something told me to follow him, but I've never climbed a tree before. At least not one taller than my house. So with a first attempt I fell and scraped my knee. I began to cry
I wiped my tears and when I cleared my vision again. The here was. Looking at me with sad eyes.
" Stop crying....your ugly when you cry" He turned away when he finished that sentence. He motioned the bird to come to me. As if the bird knew what the boy meant, it jumped on top of my leg and with one swing of its wing the cut disappeared.
"Wow...." my eyes widen as a smile started to cross my face. I noticed the boy looked back at me, and I could have sworn that before he started to walk away, he smiled. I got up as fast as I could and tried to reach out for him, but he suddenly became a blurr.
"Nooo, don't go..... please....."
And with that, I am rushed awake. Trying to remember the face of the little boy. It seemed so clear in the dream but...now..... I can't remember it.
I felt a drop of water hit my forehead, and I looked up to see a small shade of light coming through a whole in the log. I make my way outside to find a watch hidden between the leaves. I recognize the watch, and all of a sudden, the grass beneath me starts to swallow me up.
I panic and try to grab onto the log to pull myself out. That's when I heard a familiar voice, and all my panic vanished and turned to excitement.
I was finally going home......
