He held his hand next to his body while he bowed, never taking his eyes from mine.

"Alekai. My name is Alekai."

He straightened up and walked closer to me.

"I'll guess. Blond hair, weird way of taking, looks to have lost her head....." he chuckled. "Your Alice, aren't you."

"How do you know me?" My surprise clear in my voice.

"Sweetheart, everyone here knows about you. You're the one who put a stop to the red queen."

The red queen. That's it. His hair, his face he looked like her.

No way.

"Are you......" I started to say.

"Her son? That obvious?"

My jaw dropped. When did she have a kid? And who in their right mind would...... Oh God.

He noticed the confusion and surprise on my face and laughed. Hard. I tried to hide my surprise but I really couldn't believe the red queen had a son. Did the white queen know? If so, why didn't I?

He snapped his fingers in front of my face to snap me back into reality. "Really can't believe it, huh? Yea, I don't blame you. I wouldn't believe me either,"

Yea, I don't think anyone would.

"Um....ok...I should get going. I got places to be so um, " I started to say before my thoughts were interrupted by the bird. It flew towards me and placed itself on my shoulder.

"Jabber..." I whispered. The bird tilted his head in response.

I felt my self grow dizzy, my eyes grew heavy, and my legs got weak. Before I realized I was on the ground and Alekai was leaning over me, asking what was wrong.

He was worried.

Why does that make me happy?

..........................................

I felt a small drip of something liquid drip down my face. I slowly opened my eyes and sat up. I held my head. It hurt so much. I look around and find myself sitting on a bed. The sheets were red with a symbol that looked like a crest. I think it's a sword. It looks like one. I look around once more and notice Alekai is sitting in a chair at the far right corner of the room.

He's asleep. He loos so peaceful.

So.........handsome?

I wiped my face and looked up to try and see what was it that fell on my face. I see the ceiling has a few holes.

"It must have been raining," I whispered to myself.

I hear shuffling, and I turn around to find Alekai walking towards me. He sits next to me and touches my forehead slightly.

"Your fever is gone. That's good. "

"Fever?" I ask.

He looked at me intently and then began to speak.

"You fainted earlier......." he whispered, almost inaudible.

"And.... you took me here? Where am I anyway?" I asked.

He quickly turned to face the other direction. He looked like he was trying to hide his face. After a few seconds, he gets up and grabs a cup of water from the night stand next to the bed and hands it to me. I grab it hesitantly.

"It's just water. Relax, I'm not going to poison you. I'm not like my mother, " he said.

He noticed I wasn't going to drink it, so he took the cup from my hand and drank some of it.

"See? No poison. Just water"

He hands me back the cup. Convinced the water wasn't poisoned, I drank the rest without stopping to breathe. I remember I still had a days worth of walking in order to get to the white queens castle so I quickly thanked him for taking care of me and began to walk out of the room.

He got up with me.

"Hey.....w..wait. Where are you going?" He asked.

I didn't answer.

"Alright, ok, you don't know me, but I did just take care of you, so could you at least tell me where you're going? Maybe I can help you get there. "

I stopped before opening the bedroom door. I thought about what he said but I still didn't know him. I've made the mistake of trusting someone before and ended up with me being locked up. I reached for the door but as I placed my hand on the door handle I felt Alekai's hand grab the door know alone g with my hand.

He turned me around in a quick movement and placed one of his hands next to my head on the door and the other right next to my waist. Slightly tugging at my dress. I felt my face grow warm and I looked down to my feet.

"Please.....let me go.....I.....I have somewhere I jeed to be" I tried saying without stuttering. I failed.

"No."

I could feel him staring down at me. I was afraid to look up. He was too close. If I looked up we would be even closer. I can't. I won't.

I felt his hand release my dress completely and back away slowly never taking his eyes off me.

"Where are you going?" He asked once more.

I decided I didn't want this situation to repeat, so I told him. He listened carefully at my story and nodded here and there. After I was done talking he turned away from me for a few seconds and then grabbed my hand to take me somewhere. I didn't ask where he was taking me since I was focused on the fact that he wouldn't let go of my hand. I'm a grown woman, I can walk without him holding my hand.

But......it felt......comforting.

We reach a light brown colored door with the symbol of a heart and others that usually go in cards.

He opens the door to reveal a dark room with only a table and a chair. I small lantern was placed on the floor right next to the door. He grabbed the lantern and turned it on lighting up the room better. This time I could see there was something on the table. It looked like a mirror.

He walks me to the table and puts his hand on the lower part of my back. Gently pushing me towards the mirror. I see it's lit up in a colorful spiral.

A portal.

I thought they were closed permanently. I looked at him excitedly. He seemed to notice because he started to smile right after.

He gave me a few seconds to admire the mirror and then turned me around slowly and very gently.

He took my hand and placed it on his chest. He looked straight into my eyes.

"Trust me......."
