Shinpachi was a waiter at a restaurant and was fired for being the person who attacked the Amanto. He was fired because a man named Gintoki attacked the Amanto and some how put his wooden sword in Shinpachi's belt. After being fired he went to work for Gintoki at Odd Jobs Gin. In Odd Jobs Gin he is the sensible person and tries to save money, but Gintoki keeps buying shonen jump. Shinpachi also is a wuss when it comes to fighting, but is good at running away.
