This takes place in the same universe as the reboot, but with different storylines.
This is the most research I've ever done for a fic and that's saying something, I'll still probably get bits wrong or need things to be different in this universe for the story, so if you're a girlie with special interest in the military pls suspend a lil belief here
I don't use y/n in my stories so you will be known by your callsign

————————————————————————— Chapter 1
"So, if you don't mind me asking... Why do they call you Princess?"
Price's voice comes clear through the helmet I'm wearing. The plane begins its descent through the clouds, my first reprieve from the searing glow of the sun in almost an hour. It's a little unnerving to be travelling alone to base. A base I've never been to before. Task Force 141. The Major of my flight squadron decided I need to come here for specialised training, hands-on learning with special ops.
"They've called me Princess since Bootcamp. Because I crawled through the shit and the mud without a hair falling out of place," I reply in a monotone voice. "Barely a speck of dirt on me the whole time I was in BMT."
Price snorts. "Hardly an accomplishment. I hear Air Force boot camp's like a spa resort in comparison to what we went through."
I roll my eyes as the plane descends low across the water. "Never heard that one before."
"Don't take it personally, Princess. I'm sure we'll roll out the red carpet for you."
"You'll be a little late on that one, Captain."
"Yeah? Why's that?"
My lips twitch. "Because I'm landing my plane behind you as we speak."
As I lower the wheels to neatly touch down on deck, I see through the glass as Price turns in amazement, his mouth hanging open slightly. I lift a gloved hand and wave — though it's doubtful he'll see me. The B-2 stealth isn't completely silent, but it's easily drowned out by the surrounding helicopters, the bustling of people, here on base. Aircraft control knew I was flying the single-seater jet. They knew I was coming in to land. Price, clearly, did not.
