My Bat Mitzvah was only three weeks away, and I'm finally going to start my Mitzvah projects. I'm going to help make donations of dogs and cats, I'm going to rescue some that are strays, I'm going to help children in tutoring classes and I'm also going to help at the nursing home. A lot, right? I know, but I'm going to do it all before my Bat Mitzvah. Today I will help with the adoption of dogs and cats
─ Hi Nathalie, I'm glad you've arrived, we have a great demand
─ Leave it to me, Mrs. Preston! - I say going to the adoption site
─ Nat? 'What are you doing here?
─ Aaron? I ask you
─ This is one of my Mitzvah projects
─ How cool, mine too!
─ Then let's spend a lot of time together!
─ Uhm, hi I like this puppy, where do I sign the paperwork? - a tall young man asks holding a black and white puppy on his lap
─ First, I will explain the entire adoption process and ensure that you are ready to care for this puppy with love and responsibility
While I filled out the paperwork and explained the care needed for the puppy, Aaron helped the man pick out the supplies needed to ensure the new family member was well taken care of. The tall man signed the papers very happy to be bringing a new member into his life
─ Thank you for everything you do here. You guys are doing a great job helping these animals find loving homes - the man sincerely thanked us
─ It's our pleasure! - I respond with a smile on my face
Aaron and I continued to help with adoptions throughout the day, watching several other animals find happy new homes. It was a total of two and a half hours that we spent there helping those small and large animals find a home. As soon as we left there we went to help rescue abandoned or lost animals. We spent another hour and a half looking for the owners of lost animals, putting up posters and taking the abandoned animals to shelters and NGOs, I think it was the first time I spent so much time with Aaron, we got to know each other better, even though we already studied together four years ago
─ Today was incredible, Nat! - Aaron said as soon as we left the last animal shelter
─ It really was, Aaron! See you tomorrow?
─ You can be sure
When I got home there were Emma, Zaara and Ronnie in the living room playing "who am I"
─ Hi Ron Ron, hi Zaara - he said, yawning.
─ It's been a while since you've been home, Nat - Ronnie said, looking at me.
─ 'I'm focused on my Bat Mitzvah - I say starting to climb the stairs
─ Are you going to bed now? Mom said she would be here in an hour and would bring pizza - Emma asked shouting from downstairs
─ Wake me up when she arrives - I shout from upstairs
