chapter 2

"Manong Bert eto na po bayad ko salamat po mag ingat po kayo!"

"Ikaw din ija! Salamat!"

I waved goodbye to Manong Bert and opened the gate, bago ako nakapasok ay sumalubong agad ang apat naming alagang aso.
Kahit walang pagkain na naka salubong sa kanila ay ang presensya mo ang napakagandang supresa para sa kanila.

I knelt down to their level and kissed each of their heads "Oh, anak andito ka na pala" sinalubong ko agad si tatay para mag beso at mag mano "mano po tay, si nanay?"

"Pag palain ka ng Dios anak, andon sa kusina nag luluto ng haponan natin mamaya pasok ka na, i-lo-lock ko na itong gate natin"

I just nodded at pumasok sa loob, nilagay ko muna yung mga gamit ko sa sofa bago dumiretso sa kusina, as I got closer to the kitchen I can't help but savor the aroma of my favorite food made by my mother fo dinner tonight waska na naman ang diet ko neto.

"Hmmmm. It smells good nay! " nagmano ako at nagbeso

"Syempre anak, pampa taboy ng stress mo sa mga school work mo. Di biro talaga maging guro" she continues to flip and fold the ladle on the pan as she continues to cook.
"Oh mukhang seryoso ang mukha ng unica ija namin ah? May problema ba?"

"Nay maypag usapan pala tayo mamaya." I nervously fiddle with my fingers

"Okay anak, mag bihis ka muna at malapit na itong maluto. Baba ka din after para mag dinner na"

I nodded and went upstairs to my room to quickly changed into my comfy clothes and hurridly went downstairs heading towards the dining area. I saw my parents already seated, We prayed and thank God for the meal and the protection He has given us throughout the day.

"Nak, sabi ng nanay mo may sasabihin ka daw?"

I put the the condiment on the table and sighed loudly, here it goes.

"I've been promoted"

Gasped were heard from both of them and congratulated me simultaneously

"That's great anak! Saan ba? Sa division ba natin dito? Baka mag sama na kayo ng tita mo!"

Well... sadly no..

"It's in Ilocos Norte" I pursed my lips and looked at their faces with mixed emotions. "look, kung ayaw nyo pwede ko naman i-decline ang offer po, and besides maybe this will open huge opportunities for me along the way if I take this. Pwede naman kayo sumama sa akin. Ibenta natin itong bahay at manitili na dun"

"Anak, you know we'll support you in any ways. Are you scared that we won't approved? Syempre anak! We approved of your promotion! May nalaman naman akong tao na gustong bumili nitong bahay natin, I can talk to her on the phone tomorrow morning" My mom looked joyful, I expected she would disliked the idea but it turned out great pala.

"Of course anak we'll go with you. This house has been filled with horrid memories that haunted us. Gusto din namin na umalis dito, thank you anak for allowing us to go with you"
Tatay smiled at me and squeezed my hand in assurance.

"Of course tay, anything for you and nanay. Hanggat kaya ko ibibigay ko sainyo ni nanay."

"Oh parang mag iiyakan na naman tayo dito, let's eat and celebrate! Our daughter has been promoted! Let's make a toast for new beginnings ahead for our Anya, and for our family's sake and sanity"

We clinked our glasses of water and continued to savour our dinner well into the night.I had really low hopes for how it would turn out, but they were exceeded by something wonderful.
