"I'm not playing in this week's game," My boyfriend, Jack, turned to me with a mixture of disappointment and frustration in his eyes. His passion for the sport was undeniable, and it pained me to see him sidelined once again.

"Oh," I stammered, caught off guard by the intensity of his gaze. I struggled to find the right words to console him, knowing that Jack hadn't been getting the playing time he deserved, which weighed heavily on his confidence.

"Maybe next week you'll play?" I ventured, trying to inject a glimmer of hope into the situation. Jack's response was a weary echo, "Maybe." He sighed deeply, and doubt crept into his voice. "Am I even that good at footy?"

My heart ached for him, and I couldn't help but offer reassurance, "Yeah, you are really good." I flashed a supportive smile, hoping to boost his morale.

"If I am good at footy, then why aren't I playing today?" He looked at me, his eyes searching for answers. It was a question that had likely tormented him for some time.

"One day, you'll be out there," I assured him, knowing that his talent couldn't be denied forever.

In a moment of vulnerability, Jack closed the distance between us and wrapped me in a warm embrace. "You're the best," he whispered, his lips pressing a gentle kiss to my cheek before he pulled back, his eyes locked on mine.

"I love you," Jack declared, his gaze unwavering. "So, so much," he added with a radiant smile.

Touched by his affection, I returned his sentiment with equal sincerity, "I love you too, Jack," I replied, the weight of the moment offering solace in the face of uncertainty.
