The Dragon Knight took sky patrol, jumping across rooftops. His new suit made all of his lands surprisingly quiet, although some things were a bit hard with his prosthetic; not really being able to feel another foot, he was a bit clumsy whenever he landed. However, he had grown used to it, and been trained with it. Dylan had always been a bit clumsy anyway, so what was this in the grand scheme of things?

Surprisingly, there wasn't much crime today. Dragon Knight found that a bit boring, but he also knew that it was good, just as well. Soon enough, he got to the edge of town, and took to the sky with his flight powers. As usual, he glided a slow lap all around Duckburg to make sure he hadn't missed anything. It was never the same; sometimes there was something happening, sometimes there wasn't. Either way, Dragon Knight was just glad to do his part and protect the city.

Today, there was nothing. And he made sure to finish his lap where he'd started, so he wouldn't strain his flight powers. Once he'd landed, he sat and waited until it was time for him and Gizmoduck to switch patrol shifts. After a few minutes, an alarm beeped in his hood, signaling that. With that, Dragon Knight stood up, and jumped off the building. He nose-dived right for the ground, but well before he could hit it, his new cape unfolded out into wings, slowing his fall considerably, and he landed softly in an alleyway on his feet.

Dragon Knight slid behind objects that would hide him, trying to remain discreet. Not too long into his ground shift, Gizmoduck contacted him over comms.

"DK," he said, "anything from sky patrol on your end?"

"Negative," Dragon Knight replied, unintentionally sounding quite bored. Then he made sure to ask the mandatory question: "Anything from ground patrol on your end?"

"Negative," Gizmoduck answered.

Dragon Knight nodded, then continued his ground shift. However, less than halfway through it, Gizmoduck spoke to him through comms again, which was a bit unusual.

"Hey, DK," he said, this time a bit less serious, "you feeling okay?"

Dragon Knight glanced to the side a bit. "Yeah, fine," he answered, trying to sound more casual than he felt.

"Are you sure?" Gizmoduck asked, seeming to notice that. "You sound a bit bored."

Dragon Knight sighed, defeated.

"I dunno," he answered back. "It's just — hero life is a little boring now since I last saw the Red Raven. Nobody's seen him since we had that little encounter, and now there isn't much to do. I'm not saying this is bad, or anything like that. I'm just saying I wish there was a little more action around here."

There was a pause before Gizmoduck answered again, which worried Dragon Knight. But Gizmoduck answered before he could worry anymore.

"Well, I have to admit to agreeing with you on that front," he said. "To be honest, I'm surprised there's not much action. Normally, there'd be at least some crime for us to tend to —"

Dragon Knight half-listened as Gizmoduck went on, for he heard the sound of an explosion rather close by. His eyes widened with — was it excitement, worry, or something else? He couldn't tell. All he could tell was that it might be crime.

"Hold that thought," he told Gizmoduck mid-sentence, excitement coming out in his voice. "I think I've got something over here!"

With that, Dragon Knight flew off in the direction he heard it from, which was the bank! He rolled his eyes.

"Bank robbery? Really?" he said disappointedly. "That's so cliche."

He flew right into the bank through the now demolished doors, heard citizens crying in terror as quite a few (not just the main three) Beagle Boys grabbed what money they could. Dragon Knight's eyes widened again.

"Beagle Boys," he said, getting their attention. "Y'know, I've heard a lot about you guys but have never actually gotten to fight you yet —"

"Can it, superkid!" the little one shouted. "You wanna stop us? You're gonna have to get through all of us!"

Dragon Knight remembered that one was called Big-time Beagle, and he was supposedly the ringleader...or was he? It hardly mattered as Dragon Knight drew his sword, and faced the beagles, jumping up and levitating a few feet in the air.

"Alright," he said casually. "Have it your way."

With that, the biggest beagle (who Dragon Knight thought he remembered was called Bouncer) launched himself at him with a huge clenched fist! Before he could strike Dragon Knight, he swiftly flew between Bouncer's legs, then sheathed his sword and headbutted him full force in the back, causing the big beagle to fall forward with a painful sounding thud.

Then two more beagles charged Dragon Knight, who threw a hard punch at one, and kicked the other, knocking them both off their feet. Then three more beagles jumped on top of Dragon Knight from behind, pushing him to the floor, and piling on top of him! Dragon Knight struggled, then he inhaled, and his eyes began to glow orange, which quickly turned to purple. And he heaved out a huge purple flame, opening his visor as he did, and launching himself upwards, throwing the beagles off of him!

He looked around and noticed Big-time held a rope. Just what he needed! He flew at lightning speed past the beagle, and swiped the rope from him, knocking him off his feet. Two more beagles ran at Dragon Knight to try and take that rope back, and Dragon Knight drew his sword to combat the baseball bats they both held, until he was able to kick them both off their feet. With that, he flew fast laps around the beagles, gathering them into a clump, and flew around them with the rope to tie them all up! He finished off with a knot and quickly sliced off the stray ends with his sword, and bam!

He landed on his feet, a bit dizzy from flying laps at high speed, and tired from so much flight power. He wobbled a bit, and stood on his prosthetic for a moment, then promptly fell.

"Ow," he groaned.

Once he got back on his feet, he saw several civilians looking at him in awe. Then they started cheering! It seemed as though he had amazed them with what he'd just done. They were cheering his name, telling him he was amazing! For some reason, he didn't exactly like all the attention, but he accepted it while he was there.

When he felt like walking again, he nodded to the people, then left the bank, where the police were coming to clean things up. The officers acknowledged what he'd done, and how tired he seemed from it, so they dismissed him. Once he was out of sight again, he remembered he left Gizmoduck mid-thought, so he contacted him over comms.

"Hey Giz," he said, "sorry I left you hanging earlier. Beagle Boys. But uh...what were you saying?"

"Oh, don't worry about it," Gizmoduck replied. "Especially if that was the case. But I was saying that maybe you're beginning to feel this way because you miss your easy life before you were a hero. Easy life with your uncle and your pet."

Dragon Knight looked to the side once more. Dylan did miss when things were simple with his Uncle Wildwing and Frida. He missed not having patrol or a battle every day (as fun as the battles were). He let out a soft sigh.

"Yeah," he said to Gizmoduck. "I guess I do miss that stuff. But I don't dislike being a hero at all!" he added hastily. "I know how important it is...but I wish I could fit my own life into this one now."

There was another pause before Gizmoduck spoke again, but thankfully Dragon Knight didn't worry about it at all.

"Maybe I can show you a few ways you can," Gizmoduck offered kindly. "Tell you what; why don't you meet me at the lab after our shifts are done? There's something I should tell you."
