Quick Summary: Oklahoma knows something is wrong, but he can't figure out why.
A couple days had passed.
Something was very wrong and it was making Oklahoma quite uneasy. Charlotte hadn't responded to his texts or been at work recently. Apparently, she'd caught COVID but Okie didn't quite believe her. He wasn't going to doubt his one and only though, because she sure as hell wouldn't doubt him either.
He was starting to get seriously worried for her, and their relationship as a whole, considering how distant they'd become. Hell, honestly they hadn't been that close for the past month or so.
To add to the emotional stress, now that Oklahoma was home more often he had to deal with Texas. He was genuinely considering hanging around California so that Texas would leave him alone. That was just a final resort, not his main plan. Instead, he decided to stay cooped up in his room and draw the only thing he could think about. Her.
Oklahoma spent the day listening to one of his sadder playlists and drawing his beautiful black-haired goddess of a girlfriend. Oklahoma was exceptionally good at drawing her off of memory, and he was planning on gifting it to her whenever he saw her next, which would hopefully be soon.
Slowly, he's feeling.. Weird. His mind filled with repetitive thoughts of.. Dread. He's overthinking again.
His mind clouded up with thoughts that caused him to get very anxious. If he weren't staying clean for her, he'd go digging under the bed for his stash right now, but for now, he needed to just let his emotions out through creativity.
By the time he had finished the piece, it was around 12:30 in the morning and he was extremely hungry, which meant heading to the kitchen. He wasn't too worried about Texas being awake, but he wasn't so sure about the other states.
Oklahoma got up from his desk chair and made his way out of his room into the hallway, then out to the main room. Inside was California who was making tea in the kitchen. Cal turned around and flinched at Oklahoma's presence.
"Oh- I didn't mean to scare you or-"
Oklahoma said awkwardly. People weren't really his strong suit, but then again he's talking to safespace so the social standards aren't that high.
"-Nononononono- I should've been, like, watching my back or something- I'm sorry."
Cal stuttered like a total dipshit, which was pretty fucking funny to Okie but now simply wasn't the time to laugh at tomfoolery.
"It's no big deal. Why're you making tea so late?" Oklahoma asked while he stepped into the pantry and grabbed an instant ramen cup.
"..Why're you making instant ramen so late?" California replied, before sipping his tea.
"I've uh- been a little restless. I'm just feeling a little 'off' n' all that stuff." When Oklahoma said that, California gave a sympathetic face.
"Well, if you need someone to talk to my door's always open. Metaphorically of course, just like, text me if you need me." California said with a small closed-mouthed smile and a small giggle. Oklahoma filled the ramen cup with water and stuck it into the microwave.
"Will do, Cal." Oklahoma said with a small smile.
"Well- uh- bye." California mumbled awkwardly before scurrying back to his room.
Oklahoma was perplexed by California. On the one hand, he seemed nice. On the other hand, it's literally California. He'd had to think about if he'd really make an effort for the human torch, but that didn't matter right now.
The microwave almost beeped, but Oklahoma caught it at 1 second left. He stirred it quickly and walked back to his room so he could just eat and go to bed.
Oklahoma Stepped into his room. It was pretty cluttered, but that didn't matter to him right now. He sat at his desk and ate his ramen quickly, before tossing the container into his little trashcan and walking over to his bed, laying down and pulling his phone down.
He opened his texts with Charlotte. She'd left him on read since Tuesday. But she loved him, and he loved her, so he had to keep trying.
'Good night my beautiful Bluestar.'
He plugged his phone in and laid down, turning the lamp on his nightstand off, drifting into the world of 'dreams'.
