December 1918 - Small Heath, Birmingham
Tommy stood looking at the men add the final touches to the outside of Neko's store, from outside he could see the tall man flitting around the shop, putting rolls of fabric onto shelves and wiping down the counter top. In each window at the front was a mannequin, dressed in brilliant gown designed and made by Neko, the intricacy of his designs truly awed Tommy, he had watched the man work whenever he could, and was amazed by how fast and diligently he worked, how his large hands delicately held a needle, how his bottom lip was held between his sharp teeth in concentration. It amazed him. Neko amazed him.
The sign was the last piece, "Neko!", Tommy only slightly raised his voice and the man looked up, a grin taking over his features and he ran out of the shop, standing beside Tommy, the two were soon joined by the rest of the Shelby family.
The men fitting the sign moved and revealed it to the world; Roji (The Alley) was ready for its opening, Neko was ready to make dresses and skirts and shirts and suits and whatever else was needed of him, he was ready.
New Years was fast approaching. After an eventful Christmas with the Shelby family, Neko was finally beginning to feel as though he was home; John and Arthur were the brothers he never had, Ada was his perfect little sister who he dressed up like a doll, Finn was his little sunshine, always managing to make him smile when he was having a bad day and Polly filled the hole in his heart left by his parents death, she protected him like he was her own and they told each other things they had never said aloud.
