"Ahem, where were we?"
"Wait, why are we telling this story to th-"
"What did I tell you about breaking fourth law!?"
"Sorry..."
"Good, now, shut up and listen for once! Where were we?"
"A young boy, fascinated by anime."
"Ah, yes. You see, there once was a lad named Jameson, he had been born into servitude, but loved anime and manga far too much to follow in his familial footsteps,"
Jameson, sixteen, had just barely reached 5'9", and even though his skin wasn't the fairest, he had one heck of a beard going on, it wasn't a nice looking beard though. It was an amazing beard because once side of his face was bushier than the other, as if he had tried to test fertilizer with his face! He was a little pudgy, but most people didn't think he was as strong as he was until it was too late. He had always had big feet, wearing size 11 men's shoes at the age of 8. He was an ordinary, run-of-the-mill teenager with one exception, he had defied his lineage of butlering, to become an amazing author.
It was a lovely day in early spring, Jameson had just finished his studies, and was relaxing to one of his favorite anime.
"Ichijo-kun... sukidesu, daisukidesu!*" Kato-san screamed, at the top of her lungs.
"James? Really? Buddy, I thought we talked about this! If you insist on watching your amine or whatever it's called, you got to do it on your computer or without the volume, especially when my friends are here, ok?" Jonah, James's brother, pestered.
"Hai, hai (yes, yes). I'll turn it down." James responded, half-heartedly.
As Jonah left the room, the volume went down, but to James's excitement, Jonah and his friends left the house, and the volume skyrocketed once again.
"Sumimasen ga, watashi wa kanto wa, ima anata to gaishutsu shimasu!**" Ichijo reluctantly screamed back to Kato, as her car drove down the street, never to be seen again.
"Dude! Ichijo, why man, why? She's leaving anyway, so why not just say yes, and go on one date with her!" James cried in frustration.
James had spent the past two and a half months, watching the story of one guy and how he was always surrounded by pretty, smart, kind girls. Kato was his favorite, since she didn't stand out as much as the others, but it was also because the illustrators didn't go out of their way to make her un-physically large, or unappealingly small in certain areas. Instead she was just right, curves in where they need to be, and out when necessary. They also gave her the natural hair color of brown, unlike the other characters with silver, purple, and pink hair.
"Damn, now he will probably go for one of those idiots, always crawling over him at school." James thought in disgust.
Having been betrayed by the authors, James decided to head outside, for once, and cool off a bit. Just outside the door, James saw Anne, fidgeting nervously on the porch, so instead of listening to another story about a failed romance, he walked back to his room and took a nap.
James, and his family, lived in a nice little house attached to the southern end of the Shwaray family mansion. This was the family that had, in a way, owned the Milcotts, James's family, for the past 6 generations. In the Shwaray family, were the mysterious Mr. Shwaray, his wife Mrs. Shwaray, their sons Raku, and George (quite a strange combo huh?), and their daughter, Anne. Anne had been the one to get James into anime, since they were the same age and all, and she was a very talented artist. So good, that if she drew an extra eye on your forehead, everyone, including yourself, would believe it's a real eye! Mr. and Mrs. Shwaray, however, never knew of these talents, neither did Raku nor George. The only people who knew where Anne, James, and their fans, who knew them as Jon Mills and Nan Shay. Yes, fans, these two teenagers lived the life of an author, illustrator combo. When one made a contract with a company, it was only because the other was contracted onto the same project. James even wrote the script for The Triangle of Love's ribbon, the anime he was so angry at before. James never let his "two lives cross" as Ichijo was known for saying. Even if he wrote a manga, he would still buy it and read it like the content has never touched his eyes, and he still felt the impact of characters' words.
*Knock, Knock* "James! Are you in there?" It was Anne, speaking in a voice that was obviously hiding the fact that she had been crying recently.
Reluctantly, James sat up, said, "Yes, come on in." and watched as a distraught Anne, different from the girl who knocked at his door, fell to her knees, tears cascading down her cheeks faster than she could produce them, wails shrill enough to crack steel. Never to worry though, this always happened when Anne was upset about someone breaking up with her, always the same pep talk from James, and always the same left-right-left of Anne's wrists as she wiped the tears from her face.
Anne was quite the interesting person, really. You never knew when she would go off, and if you did, you still had no chance of knowing if it would be in blood or in tears. Last year a girl in Anne's class made fun of a miss-matched friendship bracelet James had given her, but instead of hiding the bracelet and letting the insult slip, Anne flipped the girl over her shoulders, breaking her arm in the process, and embarrassing her in a way that make many believe she would never get married after that incident. To this day, no one understands how such a cute, petite girl can house so much hatred, even if it's just spur of the moment. She was four inches shorter that James, and didn't seem to have any muscle whatsoever, but that was easily proven incorrect. Nevertheless, James had a babbling Anne in his room, and he needed to calm her down so he could share some news with her, not like she would be calm afterwards though.
"It's ok, it's ok. Whatever Kevin, or whatever his name was said to you, I swear it isn't true." James said, trying to console Anne.
"No! No! That's not it at all!" Anne yelled through her tears, "I just overheard our parents talking, and they said that since you didn't want to carry on the family's tradition of servitude through your generation, that you were to be disowned!"
Strangely enough, that's what James needed to tell Anne in the first place.
"I... uhm... I knew that already..." James whispered.
"Wha?" Anne was still crying so much at this point, that not only did she not hear James, but her own words were starting to sound like those of a three year olds. "I cwoodnt hear wat you sad"
"Oh never mind what I- what I- what-" Now James was crying.
Not only had he not expected this kind of outburst from Anne, but he also didn't expect himself to cry.
Hours later, when the tears stopped, the frowns turned to smiles, as the two friends reminisced over the past thirteen years of their lives.
"Ha! Yeah, it sure was fun!" James exclaimed.
"Not until you picked up the penguin and threw it at the guard!" Anne yelled back.
"OH, Yeah! I forgot about that!" James said as the two of them busted into a boisterous laughter.
Now, as if on cue, Anne said something that darkened the mood.
"If your parents are disowning you, then I will force mine to disown me, then we can be a couple of famous rejects, together." She said.
"You don't want to do that, what about Brad? What will happen there? And your family? I doubt they will see it as you coming on your own volition! You are better off staying here" James spoke without thinking first.
A weird tension filled the room. It almost felt as if there was a weight pressing down on both of them. They each tried to say something, to no avail. Eventually, the weight seemed to be lifted and James was just about to apologize when Anne rapidly rose from her seat, and yelled "Fine do whatever you want then!" and with that, she stormed out of James's room, down the hall, and into her house, before James even realized what had happened.
