It seemed like pure luck that she beat Bakugou, looking back at the fights on TV she noticed how tired he looked after fighting Uraraka. That was probably why.
But she still won 2nd. And she was bloody proud of herself.
The next day in school on the way to Shouta's class, Denki and Aiko raved about the Sports Festival.
They sat down, continuing to laugh and joke to each other until Shouta walked in.
"Morning." He mumbled before stomping to the front.
"Mr Aizawa, you don't have bandages anymore *kero* that's good news!" Tsu called.
"Yeah the old lady went a little overboard on the treatment, anyway, we have a big class today on hero informatics... you need code names."
The class erupted in noise only to quickly shut up at the use of their teachers quirk.
"This is related to the pro-hero draft pics that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally students don't have to worry about their draft yet, not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first years like you, pro's are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest dies down before graduation though."
"So what you're saying is we'll still have to prove ourselves after we're recruited?" Hagakure asked.
"Correct, now, here are the totals for those of you who got offers."
She looked at the board and smiled 300 offers! Oboro would be so proud!
"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pro's got it? Even those who didn't get any offers."
Aiko felt the pit in her stomach deepen, anxiety creeping back into her mind at the mere thought of the internships.
"You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility but it will still be helpful to see pros at work."
Aiko stared down at her desk, frown set on her face.
"Hey you okay?" Denki whispered, noticing the slightly floating blue hair.
Aiko nodded and smoothed her hair back down. "You'll have hell to pay later!" Nemuri yelled as she entered the room, bringing her out of her head. "You better be careful or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."
"Yeah, she's got a point there. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names, it's not my forte."
Aiko still remembered when Oboro had told her about how Shouta had gotten his hero name.
Aiko sat with a whiteboard and pen, staring down at the blank white in front of her. "Now students, who among you is ready to share?" Nemuri asked.
Aiko barely registered this, instead she slowly built up her courage to write out her chosen name. She headed up next, Shouta's eyes creaked open to watch the girl.
She smiled at the class in front of her and as a tear rolled down her cheek she announced the name.
"The Vapour Hero: Loud Cloud."
She wiped the tear and looked to Nemuri who herself looked to be holding back tears. "I like that one." She smiled sadly.
"Now that everyone has decided on their hero names we can continue talking about your internships. They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with, those of you who were on the board will choose from your offers, others will have a different list."
When Aiko took the list a name jumped out to her immediately. Miruko. She smiled and filled out the form immediately. She could help Aiko out massively with her combat skills which she was severely lacking in.
Then another name caught her attention. Maimiti, the Oceanid hero. Now that. That was interesting.
The day of the internship Aiko ran about the house making sure everything was in order before she left.
"Thanks Yosano, money's on the counter, there's soup in the cupboard, keys by the fish tank, the-"
"It's okay Miss Shirakumo your dad will be fine, I can handle it, have a good internship, see you in a week." Yosano smiled at her, pushing her out of the door.
Aiko rushed outside to where a car was parked outside.
She fell asleep on the train, only waking up when one of her classmates (who were heading in the same direction) shook her awake warning her that this was her stop.
She looked around for some kind of sign saying her name when her eyes landed on the distinct hero suit.
"Miss Eaternus?" Aiko asked cautiously.
"Shirakumo right? Just call me Maimiti, there are a tone of people in my family with that last name and we just like others calling us by our first names anyway." Maimiti shrugged.
The family Maimiti belonged to an almost entirely pro hero family. The all incredibly powerful, all refuse to take part in hero rankings.
When she had received an offer from the leader of the ocean corps (members of the families organisation who had water related quirks) she couldn't say no.
There was a lot of hesitancy and caution towards the family and their organisation. People didn't like how secretive they were.
"I'm gonna have to you stay in the ocean core base for now so it's not too overwhelming for you. If you want to come back for future internships though we'd love to introduce you further to the house."
"Is that why we're heading to the airport?" Aiko asked.
"Not the airport but close." The older girl smirked.
It turned out what they were going to take was a fucking helicopter.
So yeah. This was going to be an interesting internship.
