Home life and a mixed tape

I like Derry more then the other places we've lived. I actually fit in here and I managed to find someone who doesn't mind that I'm a psychopath. I know this summer will be one that I always remember.

"Leana, have you and Patrick ever......you know....done it?" Lauren asked on our walk home. I laughed slightly. "It's Patrick Hockstetter. Of course we have."

Lauren blushed. "Do you think we're old enough, I mean, you're old enough?" "Laurie, did you and Vic....." I started doing crazy eye movements. She laughed "No but I'm think about it." "Well, you gonna know that he's a good person and Vic is, so I say to for it." I replied.

"I can't believe I'm always getting advice from my little sister." Lauren said "I'm nine months and two days younger then you! We are the same grade." I replied as we reached the door to our house.

"You never cared about me or the kids! I don't think you even want to be here!" We heard our mom yell "I love our fucking kids! You know that!" Dad yelled as a response.

I looked at Lauren and we nodded at each other. That nod meant, 'We'll leave a note and go somewhere else'

I grabbed a scrap of paper and wrote:

'We heard you fighting. Be back later.

-Leana and Lauren'

I grabbed my car keys and we left. We sat in the car for a minute. In comfortable silence. "Do you think he'll still be here when we get back?" Lauren asked. "I don't know." I shrugged, starting the car.

Our mixed tape came on, first song was 'Cherry bomb'. I smiled and so did she
