Daniel and Nico had been staying staying with the pack for a couple days now. While Daniel seemed to be accepted by everyone, Nico couldn't help but feel a little left out.
It was normal, really. It had only been a few days. Daniel was a jokester and an all-round nice person. Of course he was well received.
Nico on the other hand was more mysterious. Which was what Charles was so fascinated by. Even Pierre had to admit that the guy had something intriguing. Lando was a little bit intimidated by him and Max didn't really pay him any attention. Max just seemed to like being in Daniel's presence, much to everyone's surprise.
However, Nico did get along with Daniel (because it was impossible not to like him), Sebastian, Valtteri and even Kimi. So he hung around them most of the time. So far there had been no sign of the rogue alphas, but they were patient.
The only thing that was a little bit worrying was that, although Lewis was fine with being around Daniel, being around Nico made him jumpy and jittery. It was weird and he didn't like it, so, he tried to avoid him as much as he could.
In fact, Lewis had never talked to Nico or been alone with him in the same room. Ever.
Valtteri had talked to Lewis about it. All he said was that he still doesn't trust an alpha he didn't know. Val didn't bother to tell him he was totally fine with Daniel.... That was probably because Daniel was friends with Seb and Lewis trusted Seb.
Nico was a stranger when he arrived, still was a little, so Lewis had no proof or reason to believe that he was trustworthy.
Nico tried sometimes, to engage Lewis in a conversation, but it didn't work. Lewis would always come up with an excuse to get away. It was getting a little frustrating.
Meanwhile, Charles was always around. When Lewis had turned down his efforts once again, Charles would pop up out of nowhere and engage him into a silly conversation. It was quite nice. Charles and Pierre always made him feel accepted.
Daniel seemed to notice his frustrations with Lewis too, because he had come over a few times to give him a pat on the back. To tell him not to worry about it.
Why would he be worried anyway? He wasn't part of their pack. There was nothing to be worried about.
Nico was woken up by whimpers and quiet sobs one night.
At first he wasn't gonna pay attention to it. He was just gonna force himself to go back to sleep, but it just didn't work. The whimpers just seemed to be haunting his mind.
Groaning in defeat, he got out of his bed and went out of his room to investigate. Curious to find out where the sounds were coming from.
His ears, and his feet obviously, lead him, surprisingly, to Lewis' room.
The door was slightly ajar. He told himself not to, but he found himself risking a peek inside.
What he saw pulled at his heartstrings.
There on the bed was what looked like a big pile of bodies, with one in the middle, but if you had a better look; and an eyesight like wolves had ; you'd see what Nico saw.
In the middle of the bed was Lewis, curled up in fetus position. Curled around his back was Pierre, curled around his front was Lando. Charles was leaning over Pierre, gently stroking Lewis' arm and his side. Max was lying against the bedhead, fingers stroking through Lewis' hair. The braids were out and Nico couldn't help but marvel at the curly hair. His fingers twitched for some reason, so he balled his hands into fists.
