Nicholas groaned as the jarring sound of his alarm shattered the tranquility of the early morning. "I have to wake up for this fucking hellhole" he muttered, desperately reaching for the snooze button, clinging to the last precious minutes of sleep. But, with a heavy sigh, he eventually surrendered and swung his legs over the edge of the bed. His school uniform lay neatly folded on the chair, waiting for him and his impending misery. This was his first experience spending an entire school year in another country, and the anxiety gnawed at him.

He snapped out of his daydreaming when his mother pulled into the school's parking lot. "I hope you have a great day at school, sweetheart," she said with a warm smile. Nicholas couldn't help but roll his eyes. "We'll see about that, Mum," he replied, giving her one last look before closing the car door and trudging toward the school entrance.
"Everyone here seems so American, kind of like Taylor," he muttered quietly to himself as he entered the bustling halls of his new school.

Nicholas had asked countless people for directions to the science lab, unaware that there were three of them in this sprawling school. Frustration gnawed at him as he finally directed himself to his first-period class. With each step towards the classroom, he overheard hushed conversations from inside.
"Fuck" he muttered under his breath, realizing he was the last person to enter the classroom on his very first day. Nevertheless, he summoned his inner confidence and put on a charming but slightly forced smile as he walked to the door, determined to appear unfazed even though he was questioning all his life choices
As he placed his right foot inside the classroom, the entire class fell eerily silent. The silence was so profound that even the faintest squeak under someone's shoe could be heard. A middle-aged man in a lab coat turned around, his face lighting up with a welcoming smile.
"Mr Galitzine, I was informed by your principal that I would be the first teacher you'd meet. My name is Mr Wrapper, and welcome to Cougars High School," he announced warmly. Nicholas stood there, his hand slightly sweaty, and briefly introduced himself to his new classmates.
"I'm Nicholas. I moved here from London, and I hope to get to know all of you," he said, attempting to break the ice. After his introduction, he noticed a familiar face at the back of the class, but he couldn't quite place it. Not wanting to hold up the class any longer, he quickly found the nearest empty seat and took his place.

The lunch bell finally rang, offering Nicholas a much needed break after enduring four periods in a new school where he still felt like an outsider. As he headed toward the cafeteria, one nagging thought consumed his mind: "Who am I supposed to hang out with today?"
Despite his attempt at an introduction earlier in the day, his new classmates hadn't exactly welcomed him with open arms. Lost in his thoughts and obnoxiously overthinking every social interaction, he aimlessly redirected himself made his way toward the library.
As he strolled down the hallway, on the corner of his eye caught a glimpse of that same familiar face. It was that boy from first period. Nicholas found himself inexplicably drawn to him, and as he looked at the boy Nicholas start thinking about The resemblance between Taylor and the stranger was uncanny, their similarity strikingly noticeable.
"I wonder where I know him from," Nicholas pondered, his curiosity ignited as he continued his walk down the corridor. With each step, his anticipation grew, and he unconsciously fixed his gaze on the stranger. Their eyes locked in a sudden moment of recognition, but then, due to Nicholas's sheer lack of attention, they collided, sending his books scattering.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going," Nicholas uttered, quickly kneeling to collect his books.

The stranger responded with a friendly laugh, "Don't worry, man. It happens all the time. You're the new student, right? You moved from London?"

Nicholas nodded, a spark of enthusiasm in his voice, "Yeah, I did. This is my first time in Los Angeles."

"That's really cool," the stranger replied warmly. "I remember when I was a kid, my dad used to take my mum and me to London every Christmas to visit our best friend Nick."
