Jungkook sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. The room remained dimly lit, as the curtains on the windows hadn't been drawn open yet.
His second day in the mansion
A soft, nearly inaudible knock echoed through the room. Jungkook hesitated for a moment, then shuffled over to the door. He was dressed in a plain white t-shirt and black pyjama bottoms.
"Morning," Taehyung greeted, his voice devoid of emotion and his face impassive.
Jungkook mumbled a "good morning" in response. Taehyung was impeccably dressed in a grey tailored suit, his hair neatly combed back to reveal his forehead. A bandage was wrapped around his little finger, which caught Jungkook's attention.
"What would you like for breakfast?" Taehyung asked from the doorway, not stepping into the room.
"I'm fine with anything," Jungkook replied quietly, not entirely sure what to expect.
Taehyung nodded and seemed like he wanted to enter the room, but he changed his mind as it appeared that Jungkook wasn't comfortable with the idea.
"Get ready. I will drop you off at your university," Taehyung announced, his words catching Jungkook off guard.
"Okay," Jungkook replied, still somewhat confused. The idea of going to university hadn't even crossed his mind since he arrived at the mansion.
As Taehyung left, Jungkook quickly closed the door and went about preparing himself. He placed the luggage on the bed, gathered his towel and fresh clothes, and headed to the spacious bathroom to get ready for the day.
The room was silent as Jungkook dressed. He couldn't shake off the strange feeling of being in this unfamiliar place with Taehyung, a man who remained an enigma.
With his university bag, Jungkook made his way to the kitchen.
In the spacious dining area, a subtle tension hung in the air as Jungkook entered. To his surprise, Taehyung was already waiting there.
The long, polished table was impeccably set, and Taehyung sat at one end, an imposing presence that dominated the room. His face bore an unreadable expression, a neutral mask that revealed nothing of his inner thoughts.
"Come, I was waiting for you," Taehyung said politely, his face still a mask of neutrality.
Jungkook quietly placed his bag on a nearby chair, opting to sit at a respectable distance from Taehyung. The slight space between them, though unspoken, seemed to underscore the boundaries they had yet to define.
Chae, the maid, moved with graceful efficiency. Her steps were nearly silent as she carried warm plates of food from the kitchen, each one a testament to her culinary skill.
She approached Taehyung first, serving him a meticulously prepared breakfast that met his specific preferences. Her movements were fluid, guided by years of experience.
