He was in deep shit.
That was the first thought Veer had when he was done talking with his assistant Meera.
Veer Singhania was the co-CEO of the tech company that he had built with his twin brother Viaan.
Meera had come to him that morning almost on the verge of tears and dropped a bomb on him—her parents were getting her married.
It might not be a problem for most people but for Veer, it was a huge blunder and he has no one but himself to blame. Because Meera was his wife whom he had selfishly married and made her sworn to secrecy.
Meera has been working for him for the last four years now and proved herself to be an asset to the company.
Two years ago, he needed to crack a deal but the client was hell-bent on resisting and giving lame excuses. Even after so many tries, the client refused, saying that he wanted to pursue the deal with a responsible man—a family man he meant. So, Veer came up with the incredible—or stupid—idea of marrying someone to prove that he was indeed a family man, ready to take responsibility and then divorce the woman after a year of the finalization of the deal.
Everything went as planned except for two things—Meera and divorce.
When he concocted the marriage plan he didn't think it would be difficult to find a woman to marry and how wrong was he. In the end, he convinced Meera to marry him, and Meera being her naïve and innocent self didn't think much before saying yes. After all, they were going to get divorced after a year, and no one had to know about the arrangement.
But when it was time to get a divorce, Veer couldn't get himself to do what needed to be done. He continued to postpone it with one or the other excuse. He had no idea why he did that but he knew he wouldn't be able to divorce her. He didn't realize how another year passed in the blink of an eye.
And here he was now, in a tight spot. He had two options, either accept his marriage in front of their families which no doubt would end up terribly for him, or divorce Meera but it would take a lot of time which they didn't have. Besides, he didn't want to let her go.
In these past years, they have always behaved professionally, never tried to claim a right to each other, and never crossed the boundary with other people. Never acted as a husband or wife but that doesn't mean he would leave her when the first problem arises.
It was selfish of him but when you have a woman like Meera in your life you don't take it for granted. He had done that but wasn't going to continue on that path anymore.
He told her to calm down and give him two days, he would find a solution.
He knew what he needed to do.

Before Veer could comprehend what was happening, a punch landed on his face. His jaw took the hit and no doubt a bruise would form in no time.
That was what he got when he told everything to his elder brother Armaan Singhania.
"How can you be so irresponsible, Veer? I didn't raise you to ruin someone's life willingly." Armaan was not entirely wrong. Veer knew Armaan would be disappointed in him.
"I'm sorry, Bhaiya (Brother). I know I did wrong but now I want to make it right, please, help me." Veer pleaded to his elder brother.
Armaan was about to say something when Rivaah Bhabhi (Sister-in-law) cut in. "Armaan, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Veer saw the resistance in his elder brother's stance but he sighed and complied with his wife by following her to the garden.
Their relationship had always been like that, Armaan never denied Rivaah's any wish and Rivaah made sure to never put him in a tight spot. Rivaah was the pillar that all three brothers needed in their lives. She loved Armaan's brothers like her own.
"I can't decide if you are incredibly genius or stupid," Viaan said from where he was sitting on the sofa. He shook his head as if he was disappointed.
Drama Queen!
Veer narrowed his eyes at his twin. "Cut the act! We both know you're ecstatic knowing that I'm getting hell for the decision I made."
Viaan's face broke into a goofy grin as he dropped the act. "But good choice brother. Meera is the best. If you wouldn't have married her then I-"
"Don't you dare complete that sentence!" Veer cut him off.
"Ooh! Possessive, huh? You're progressing." Viaan faked wiping tears from his eyes. "I'm so proud of you, Veer."
Veer rolled his eyes at Viaan but straightened when he saw Armaan and Rivaah coming back. Armaan looked a lot calmer than he was a few minutes ago and Rivaah had a small smile on her face.
"You got married without anyone's knowledge and you would face consequences but Meera doesn't have any fault in this. We all will go to her house tomorrow, you will apologize to her parents and if need be—beg them for forgiveness."
"Wha-what about Meera, Bhaiya?"
"She has been married to you for two years. It's about time she comes home."
Veer nodded and Armaan walked out of the room. Veer turned to Rivaah with gratitude.
"Bhabhi, you don't know what you have done for me. Thank you!"
"You don't need to thank me, Veer. But I would like to tell you something if you don't mind." She continued when Veer gave her a go-ahead gesture. "I don't know about the last two years but Meera is your wife, Veer. She is family now and I expect you to treat her the way she deserves to be treated. I might have saved you from Armaan's wrath but if you ever hurt her then no one will save you from mine. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Bhabhi. I won't disappoint you."
Rivaah smiled and lovingly patted his head twice like a mother does. "I don't expect anything less."
"That went surprisingly well!" Viaan said after Rivaah left for her room. "I was at least hoping for another punch."
"Of course, you were!"
Viaan laughed. "Be prepared to bring my Bhabhi home."
Veer realized that everything was getting very real very fast. He needed to prepare himself for tomorrow and for the changes that would come after.
He needed to prepare himself for Meera.
His wife.
